odd, we had a similar experience with Ruby/Sapphire. i looked at the starters, and i was like, wtfisthis >:| because, seriously, after Fire-types like Charmander and Cyndaquil, Torchic just looked so.. so... not-acceptable. completely unacceptable, and i was actually unhappy with my choice of Fire-type starter up until Kin-Hotaru's third evolution.

and then bam! Blaziken happened <3

I know, right? My thought process was something like "B-but they all look weird. I'd rather have a Rattata than--oh, pretty evolution."

Hell yeah Blaziken! He's seriously one of my faves. He got alot better in Black and White cause they gave him speed boost. He'll be OU.

I am so getting a plushie of it when it comes out. Can you imagine how fluffy it would be? XD

I got a Togekiss plush yesterday and bought a Teddiursa for my bf. Lol.
