Hey all, I'm fine here in NOLA. We weathered the storm and are now back at our house; obviously we have power. The house was fine. The avocado tree in the back came down without damaging anything, and the vent for our hot water heater was thrown off kilter, but that was pretty much it. I don't know if Loki has power, but I checked his house yesterday and it looked intact. There were tree cutting crews in his hood (about 8 blocks from me) yesterday morning when I went by, which usually precede Entergy. I'm trying to get in touch with my kid, who lives around the corner from him, to see if she has power, but being it's only 11:30 am she's probably still asleep. She stayed for the storm, and went to work last night.

Ike? I'd be worried as hell if New Orleans was named Tina. Otherwise I don't think he's coming to beat our ass.

you're funny. Glad you're doing well, and Sherri and Burgin really know how to take care of people! Granite not vomiting is incredible. Poor pooch. Glad your house looks okay, and glad you didn't burn up gas and frustration evacauting for something that really didn't require it. What happens with people's pay from those days? are there special provisions or is everyone just screwed?

A lot of people just get screwed. My job will pay, because it was an official closing. I'm off til Monday. Some people's homeowner insurance will compensate them for loss of use because of the mandatory evac, and I heard there would be some compensation for hotels etc. for evacuees.

Granite can now go to the dog levee and run run run on a regular basis! Yippee!

dog levee? I'm going to say this is an "only in New Orleans" kinda thing. Glad your pay's covered! Bills wait for no hurricane, I'm guessing.
