A tribute for m-flo
One of my all-time favourite Japanese musicians released a tribute album, for their extremely long, hard, and dedicated time in the J-pop industry.
I can't get over some of the songs; they are really well composed.
First, I grabbed this because it had Shimizu Shota. As soon as I saw his name on the cover, I immediately searched for this. His voice is so soulful, and fits PERFECTLY for Yoshika x m-flo's Let Go. Perfect!
The next reason was a complete surprise; Been So Long, a cover of m-flo's original when LISA was still in the group sung by...TOHOSHINKI!! Well, two of them, Jejung and Yuchun. I really love this song, and was hoping it wouldn't be trashy, but it was beautifully done. Jejung is an awesome singer and he has such a great range for a male singer. This song was particular high, but he hit the notes so well when he had to sing "With all my heart, with all my soul, with all my mind with all my strength~" <- This part is my favourite part when LISA sang it, but Jejung did really well. :D
Last but not least...Simple & Lovely, sung by m-flo x Koda Kumi which was now covered in this tribute album by her sister Misono. Haha, I love how she incorporated a little bit of that rockish, attitude theme that Misono is known for. The more I listen to her singing, the more it reminds me of her sister. I like Misono because she has a little bit of that husky voice, whereas her sister Kumi has...well...insanely sexy?
The only downfall is my ultimate favourite Come Again.
Nobody can ever compare to LISA, and even though I really like Aoyama Thelma, she cannot beat the queen.
Sorry, I had to ditch this off of my iPhone...and put the original in! (lol)
Either way, great album.
It's on heavy rotation since I got it.
I've been listening to How You Like me Now constantly...this song is still sooooo fresh (or PHRESH :p) I love it. I can't believe it's been over 10 years since their debut...Amazing. <3
