Shadow Hearts II - Covenant
What I have in mind, regarding this game I never even played. Despite that, I really like this game...
There's a Movies feature where you can view all the cutscenes from the game, and that was what my brother showed me. And I have to say... Yuri's one adorable main character. They didn't really joke when they officially said that he's an anti-hero (or they did joke... depending on your point of view)
He's a fresh change from a certain company's protagonists *cough*SquareEnix*cough* which is good... usually protagonists are portrayed as... well, cool, with additional suaveness, with those "I'm so cool you should fall on your knees and worship me" aura... Yuri is a wonderful change... where else can you find a main character whose dog is more clever than he is?
Another point, wonderful usage of sound effects and music. They put on sound effects which made serious scenes... looked funny, while they added a highly dramatised, serious music to a ridiculous scene.... you got the idea.
And where else would you get a character who's a vampire... and also a wrestler? And also, bravo for the small details. As far as I can remember, not only this game antagonises the Vatican from the beginning, it also has characters which....
- descended from Abeno Seimei
- become the spy Mata Hari later in her adult life
- later become renowned as Lawrence of Arabia
- the missing Princess Anastasia.... (yes, you can even find Rasputin in the game)
- (and some others I can't remember....)
Ahead is the bits of storyline which I like, mostly the humorous bits.
[There's an event where, by means of magic, Yuri tried to revive Alice, who's as stated in the game, was "the love of his life". It failed... the tube cracked, all the equipments started blowing up, and her artificial body started dissolving... and while the magician in charge ran around in panic, Yuri just... stood there, staring at Alice as her artificial body dissolved... when there was only her shoulder above that remained, she opened her eyes...]
Alice: I love you.
Yuri: I... I love you too.
[This scene wouldn't be special, if it's not for the fact that Yuri cried like a baby
And speaking about internet, after 5 d/c in the span of 3-5 minutes, I gave up trying to check LJ. Thank goodness for the updating client.
