Itsuki bounced down the path to the beach and then spun around. “Sae! Hurry up~!” he waved an arm in the air and clutched his bucket in his other hand as he waited for Saeki to catch up.
Saeki grinned. Icc-chan was like a kid at the beach. Though honestly, he was just as excited. Just breathing the salty air felt good. "hai, hai. Oi, don;t run so far..." He had to shout to be heard. He had caught up with Itsuki in a bit. "The clams are not going away anywhere you know. " he joked.
Icchan smiled widely and beamed at Saeki. “But the sooner we get there, the more time we have to find more clams!” he exlaimed and jumped a little where he stood. “You don’t think so?” He tilted his head to the side and looked at Saeki with a slightly confused expression on his face. “Hm?”
Of course he did. "We are here already, aren't we?" Saeki grinned. The beach was so much more than just clams. Of course, they were mostly here for the clams today - so it would be top priority. They had brough enough buckets to feed a whole tennis team. "Lets look for a good spot..."
“Un!” Itsuki nodded happily and when Saeki was beside him, he grabbed his hand and tugged him along the beach in search for a darker spot where the clams would like it the best. “Ah!” He stopped and let go of Saeki’s hand, then crouched down. “Sae, it should be some here!” He beamed.
The guy had a nose for it. Literally. Saeki kneeled down. "Lemme see..." he felt the patch with his fingers. Sure enough, they could get lucky here. "They should be big..." he grinned. Time for digging.
Itsuki sat down on the sand and dug with his fingers in it. “Found one~” he said to both himself and Saeki as he indeed found one. He put it in his bucket and continued to dig.
"Found two. " Saeki called over his shoulder, "wanna see who can get more?" he grinned. "Loser gets to treat for dinner. " he was working on digging out more as he said it.
“Okay.” Itsuki continued to dig, and soon found some more. After putting them into the bucket, he continued. His concentration was put fully on the digging after just a moment.
A little competition did wonders to speed. Saeki pried them one by one, tossing them in the bucket. He went for the bigger ones. The tiny guys were best left alone for now. One bucket was filling up soon. He grabbed another one, keeping it close, occasionally glancing to see how his friend was doing. Not bad at all. They were going to have a lot of clams for dinner.
Itsuki didn’t notice how it was going for Saeki, and not really how it went for him either. He was just that focused on the clamming itself to notice. When he finally did look up, he found that his bucket was full and several of his clams had dorpped into small heaps beside the bucket. “Ah, ops.” He took another bucket and put them in it. “There.” he said, pleased with himself. Then he looked up at the sky for a moment and then at Saeki. “Isn’t it pretty?” he asked.
"...!" Haha. The guy was somehow collecting much better than him. Then again, Icc-chan had always been good at this kind of stuff. His buckets were filling yes, but he didn't have so many as to have them falling out. "Sure are. " and they would be prettier when cooked. "You could go easy on me once in a bit you know..." he joked.
“Eh?” Itsuki blinked in confusion. “Go easy on what? Am I doing something bad? I’m not, right, Sae?” He got over to Saeki and looked him in the eyes. “Am I doing something wrong?” He continued to stare with huge eyes at Saeki.
"...!" This guy. He had forgotten how Icc-chan took every tiny thing seriously. "No, you are doing fine..." he spoke, amused, a sandy hand ruffling the mop of black on Icchan's head. "Lets dig some more, could share them with guys from the dorm."
Nodding, Itsuki smiled again, then turned back to his spot to continue digging. “Okay~!” He picked up some more clams and let out a small sphoof. He was really enjoying himself, clamming was fun, and it had been a while.
He had picked out more on his end as well, not quite a magnificent collection as Icchan, but plenty still. "I think that should do..." he picked out a last one, tossing it in the already full bucket. Now the only question was who was cooking...
Itsuki stood and took his buckets in his hands, then smiled widely at Saeki. “Are we going to do clam chowder? Or are we doing anything else?”
"Mmmm. " Saeki thought out loud, "you are cooking and I'm helping you. " he announced. It was better for both of them, healthwise, safety wise etc. Kitchen's and fires were not really his forte. He was fairly decent at obeying instructions though.
Itsuki nodded. “Okay.” That was fine with him. Though he had a suspicion that Saeki just wanted to make it easier for himself. But oh well, that didn’t really matter, he guessed.
He walked towards their old hangout on the beach and then stopped and turned to Saeki. “You think anyone’s using it?” he asked, tilting his head to the side.
Saeki peeked in the window. "Nope..." Lucky. He was getting kind of hungry, not because of the hard work, simply because there were so many fresh clams waiting to be eaten. And Icchan was not a half bad cook. Yes he was loooking forward to dinner. He checked the door. Open as always. "Lets make ourselves home. " he grinned, pushing it open.
Itsuki smiled widely and got into the small house, and looked at the smaller mess that was in there. They might need to clean a bit, it seemed. But that was also fine, since they’d probably finish soon. The clams were asking for their attention, after all.
It didn't look like anyone had used the equipment in ages. Saeki took a look around, digging up the old pots and rinsing them. They would have to do with whatever equipment they had here. It should work out ok really. After moving the clams in, he did some more cleaning around. "All set?"
Itsuki looked over the stove and then nodded. It looked like it was fine. “Yeah.” he said, nodding again. He crossed his arms and looekd at Seaki. “Now Sae, don’t touch anything I don’t tell you to.” he ordered. He did not want any accidents or anything happen, after all.
"Hai, hai. " Haha. He wanted to pout. Then again, the guy knew him well was all. After all it was TEMPTING to touch stuff when in a kitchen. Especially a kitchen like this. The salt and stuff should be there in the shelves. He opened a closed drawer, coughing a bit when dust flew here and there. Sure enough, they had a bit of spice too. "Think we can still use this? "
“Hmm..” Itsuki looked at the spices they had, and picked up one to see how it was. He opened it and sniffed. “I think it’s fine.” he said. He picked out a few spices and sniffed them as well. Then he quickly turned away his head from the food and sneezed. He rubbed his nose and pouted. “Why did it do that?” he asked no one in particular, then returned to the task at hand. Cooking the clams.
Saeki laughed. There would have been more questions if the guy was not engrossed with the responsibility of cooking. Once in a bit he was passing stuff to Icchan. And then he was glancing over the guy's shoulder. The stuff smelled nice. "Done yet?" how long did it take for clams to cook anyway?
“Almost done. Glancing over at Saeki, he suddenly laughed. “Sae, your face.” he giggled and wiped away some flour that had stuck to Saekis’ face. “How do you even do that?” Sake hadn’t even touched the flour, that had been Itsuki who did. And still, there was a lot of white in Saeki’s face now.
"...! Oi..." Saeki blinked. Was it his imagination? Or was Icchan trying to make a snowman out of him? At least the face. He didn't remember touching the flour. But right now, he definitely had some on his face. Saeki's eyebrow twitched, "There is something wrong with my face eh?" The bag was open. Saeki casually patted his fingers in it and put some on Icchan's face. Better. Now they matched.
Itsuki’s eyes widened and he blinked in suprise. “Eh?” Then he puffed up his cheeks. “Why’d you do that?” he asked, but didn’t wait for any answer as he scooped up some flour in his hand and patted his hand against Saeki’s cheeks. Now he was even more white. Itsuki giggled again and grinned.
“Iccchannn." Seriously. Seriously. Icchan should know better than anybody. He hated to lose. Saeki stared and then blinked and then smirked, grabbing a small fistful of flour and then casually dumping it in Icchan's hair.
Itsuki just laughed and then sneezed as some of the flour fell from on top of his head and got into his nose. It only made him laugh harder, though. Because even if he dumped flour on Saeki’s head, it wouldn’t be any difference, and Sae’s face was all white, he just looked so funny.
"You do realize we are making a mess, right?" Saeki tilted his head, all innocence, and then sprinkled whatever was left on his fingers on Icchan's face before backing off. Towel. Where was the towel? Saeki found one and dabbed his face clean and then tossed it to Icchan.
He caught the towel and shook his head to get rid of some of the flour that stuck to his hair. He proceeded to sneeze several times as the powder flew through the room. Then he rubbed the towel over his face and smiled once he was clean. “Isn’t it alright sometimes?” he asked cheerfully. Then he handed back the towel and went to the stove to get their food. “It’s done~” he chimed and he smiled widely.
He put down the pot on the table.
"Sometimes. " Saeki quipped. The flour in the hair was going to stay there for a long, long time. Until the next wash at least. Oh well. They had dabbed off as much as was possible. So. "Its done, right?" His stomach was rumbling. Saeki glanced at the bubbling pot with longing. Icchan said it was done. Which meant he should be getting out the plates and stuff. Saeki arraged them on the old table. Two plates and some water.
“Yup.” Itsuki smiled and sat down by the table. “Itadakimaaaasu~!” he chimed as he slapped together his hands. “We just have to clean up later.” he then said as he took some of the clam chowder.
"Itadakimasu." Saeki clapped the chopsticks together, working on the grub. Goood stuff. "Its" Saeki downed a few mouthfuls, "awesome" he grinned. It really was great. He didn't know when the guy picked up cooking, but Icchan always had a big family, so it had just happened naturally.
“Thanks.” Itsuki grinned at Saeki and continued to eat his food.
Once he was full, he stretched and yawned. He always got sleepy after he ate, for some reason.
More than half of the stuff was gone once they had their fill. "That was good. " Saeki grinned, pushing the bowl away, stretching a bit. A good meal always made him feel lazy too. Sleeping here could actually work. Then again, they didn't have beds like in the dorms. So the floor would have to do.
Itsuki covered the pot, stood and then dropped down on the floor with a small content sigh. He wanted to sleep. They could always clean later - though they probably should clean up right away.
Saeki shook his head. Lazy bum. Then again, the guy had handled most of the cooking. He could clean up himself. "Sleeping here?" it was not like he needed to ask. Icchan was well on his way to dreamland. Thankfully two people meant only a few dishes. He was done with it soon.
