Atwater Block Brewery --Vanilla Java Porter

"A robust mate with chocolate malt. This malt beverage is brewed with coffee beans with natural flavor added (Vanilla extract) , and we balance it with US Golding hops our award-winning brew is sure to please! Open it!"

Well this is Guinness with a hint of chocolate, Its thick and dark. If you like Guinness and chocolate you'll possibly enjoy this beer. It had a mild smell unlike the stronger smell that Guinness has, however the strong taste of the porter thoroughly masks the taste of the coffee and vanilla its really a why bother. Though it might add some mild nuances that are just to subtle for my unrefined beer pallet to taste. The chocolate was a subtle hint which for me only made it taste all that much worse.

Being brewed in Detroit Michigan, may contribute to the flavor as for me it does taste a bit like old motor oil. (kidding folks)

But this is not a beer I will be buying again, I suppose if you like the thick taste of Guinness combined with a touch of burnt chocolate then this is the beer for you. The $2.09 price definitely won't break the bank. The 6% APV has this beer falling in the sociable category quite nicely, which is good for those long social event's, and being brewed with coffee it just
might keep you awake for it as well.
