It was, for once, quiet. Spock read, occassionally sought out the pleasant quietness of Jim's mind through the bond, and savoured the hour they had spent in relative peace. There had been little opportunity for it since Risa. And even that... The relevations shared by that Pike had continued to have ripple effects on board the Enterprise of this universe.
Spock mentally shook himself - it was no use to dwell on it at the moment; there was no logic in disturbing the peace of the present with the upheaval of the past when there was nothing that could be done. He needed to make arrangement to visit with Ayel. But that was also for later - the persons responsible for providing that clearance would have long since left their offices and while it was possible the guards would be so lax as to allow an unauthorized visitor, Spock would attempt official channels first.
Something in him had settled at the agreement of Jim and Leonard to marry him. It was most surprising but he had yet to meditate upon it. Instead, because it seemed something that would please his mates, he had simply... enjoyed it.
His book made a soft settling sound as he placed it on the table. In these moments, he felt no need to actually speak.
T'hy'la, would you care to eat something? It has grown rather late.
