hitokiri_naveed is letting me borrow her words, so this might post twice (or thrice) for some of you:
Hey flist! If you haven’t heard heard by now, I ought to shoot you. =P There’s this little conference in Mesa on September 29th and 30th. That’s just a couple weeks away. The membership fee is $40 for if you sign up and pay online before the twenty-first. That’s the price of four manga from your local bookstore. The price will go up to $45 at the door.
Otaku University is NOT an anime convention, sorry! It’s an educational conference, so instead of Q & A panels with voice actors and such, you’ll be sitting down in classes and learning the essentials of the variety of topics covered.
Here’s the classes you can expect at the conference: Business of Acting, Performance Master, Photography Basics, Painting with Light, Costumes as Language, Alice in Anime Wonderland, Creating Music, Gesture Drawing, My Label (Sewing program), Okinawan Shuri-ryu Karate, Shinkendo, Screenwriting, Low Budget & No Budget Production, Green Screening, Composting, Selling Yourself and Your Film, 3D Modeling, 3D Animation, and Flash. The art studio is open for anyone to stop by and sketch during the conference. A full suit of samurai armor will be available for sketching!
OU also offers some fun things to do in the evening: Iron Cosplay Event, Radical Audio Visual Experience: a seven hour dance party featuring Seobon, DJ Citrik, DJ Louder, Ben Sparrow, Aaron Z and RayRay. Film Festival, Fashion Show, Casual Gaming, a musical performance from Anime Rapper, MAJA, an acoustic set by Natz from Rusika, Art Fair, evening karaoke and board games hosted by Otaku Club.
