Trip to AN

I was in Toronto with Shadowgate and Devin this weekend. We went to anime north. It kicked ass. There will be some pictures to come of our costumes and what not. got some souviners for a few people, also bought a shit load of stuff for myself. The hotel we stayed at was totally cool.

We arrived in Toronto on Thrusday around 7:30 ish pm, once we unloaded all of our stuff into our hotel room, we went to Perkin's for supper. After that we took a swim in the hotel's pool, which was incredibly warm. We, Shadow and myself got a good hour of swimming in before this lot of bloody freaking grade seven or eights came in and started horsing around and exesivly jumping around and splashing eachother showed up in the pool area. After a while and much glaring, we went into the hot tub and then went back up to our room. At which time we loafed around till about 12 and then went to sleep.

Friday morning I was up at 8, and read for about an hour before Shadow and Devin woke up. We got ready and around 11 - 12 we went to Perkin's once again for breakfast/lunch. After that, we took a drive out to square one, a shopping mall that we'd visited one year on a high school music trip and did some shopping there. I ened up bying two Bleach plushies, and Ichigo and a Byakuya, four Bleach posters, two Bleach keychains, a Renji and an Ishida, and I also got a Bleach Ichigo figureen. After our shopping we went to the hotel holding the convention for the meet and greet even that we'd signed up for, in which we got to meet some voice actors, that was really cool. I got autographs from Steve Bennet (Artist/Con Personality Extraordinair), Micheal Dobson (Actor/Director, his brother Brian Dobson (Actor), Quinton Flynn (Actor/Writer/Producer/Musician) and Tommy Yune (Harmony Gold-Director). Meeting them all was a great experience. After the Meet and Greet, the three of us went back to our hotel and got changed into our costumes. The hair colour that Shadow and myself used was horrendous shit, it took two washes to get it out Friday night and even then, Saturday there was still some black shit in my hair. It was gross. Once we were all dressed up, we headed back to the con, and went into the Toront Congress Center (TCC) where the dealers room was being held. Got our weapons checked and took pictures. That day I got Vol. 6 and 7 of the Kyo Kara Maoh dvd's and three yaoi manga. The we went and looked around the other building, The Doubletree Intl. Plaza Hotel, holding all the panels amoung other activities and looked around there for a while. Shadow and myself checked out the Yaoi Panel, but the discussion that was going on was 'Yaoi Fanfiction' and quite honestly, we both know enough about that topic that we didn't really stay all that long. We walked around for a bit, took pictures and then went back to the hotel. My feet were killing me by the time we got back. The boots that go with my costume were just killer on the sole's of my feet.

Saturday, I was up at 8 again, and read for a while before Shadow and Devin woke up. We decided to eat breakfast at the hotel and man was it expensive, their buffet was more expensive then going to Perkin's and getting a meal as well as a large drink. Once breakfast was done we went back up and got ready for cosplaying. We hit the dealers room once again that morning, I picked up the last two dvd's of Scrapped Princess that I needed and book 2 - 12 of Bleach, which were really well priced at nine dollars a manga. After that, we went back to the Doubletree and looked at some more panels and just wandered around taking pictures and having pictured taken of use. At one point a major KKM fan approached us and asked if she could take our picture and then asked us if she could glomp us. And getting an affermative, she did. It was amusing. There was also a massive Shuichi/Yuki from gravitation make out session, in which I got three pics of. Fangirls from everywhere were going nuts, myself included. The guys cosplaying as the characters were infact a couple and it was great. We went back to the hotel for a bit, showered, (washed my hair three times this time around to get the black gunk out of my hair) and then we went swimming for a bit. Then we went out for supper at Burger Barf and then went back to the dealers room, dressed normally this time around, cause it was just way to hot to cosplay anymore.) I ened up getting my souvernire for Angie and JC then, which I'll have to get to you guys at some point, as well as some things for my brother. I got the first and second dvd of Sukysio, I had the second one already, picked up a sanzo and Gyojo (saiyuki characters) keychains, a Bleach pillow, a Bleach figurine (Urahara) and some pockey. After our shopping, we went over to the Doubletree and was sat down to watch "Anime Hell" (Video Panel) in which they show a whole bunch of bad anime and stuff. Some of it was amusing. We also checked out some of the video showings that were going on and there are a few that I'm gonna check out cause they were rather intersting.

Sunday, we packed up our stuff, went to Perkin's for breakfast/lunch and then headed out to Hamilton to visit Kim and Kevin. We visited for a few hours, going to see Kevin at work and getting a tour of the mall by Kim's place at the same time. Kim showed us 'Guitar Hero', an amusing PS2 game in which the controller is a miniature guitar and you have to hit the colours to get points. We left Kim's around 5ish and headed on home. Just before Kingston, we stopped at a KFC and as we were walking in a group of four people commented on my 'I love Yaoi' bag. We chatted a bit and it turned out that they had been at the con as well. And they recongised us as well. One of them had been dressed as Seto Keiba from Yugioh.

We got back into town around 10:45pm last night.

All in all it was a great weekend, I had a blast, got lots of stuff and enjoyed myself. The costumes of some of the people were incredible. There were a lot of people costplaying as characters from Naruto, FullMetal Alchemist Final Fantasy (Advent Chidlren, VII and VIII), lots of Bleach (But Bleach kicks ass so it's all good and those dressed as the characters did an awesome job too) and a few Inu Yasha. There were a few people that were scarry, the guy dressed as sailor moon with the hairy legs was creepy. This one group of people dressed up as Trinity Blood characters and their costumes were incredible for the amount of detail that is part of them.

That's about all I can think of to put at the moment. So that was my trip to Anime North, it was totally awesome.
