they're gonna cut the lights

I saw a very strange Controller.Controller concert last night at Zaphod's here in Ottawa. Good club, decent size- lame fucking concert policy! Apparently, they want to pack the place full of people who are just there to dance, drink and socialize. So if a band is headlining- they HAVE to start playing at 10pm if they want a full 60 minute set or earlier than 10 if they want to play longer. At 11pm, the in-house DJ promptly starts and the place starts to FILL with people who have waiting outside for the show to be over, so that they can come in and get their swerve on. Yet I pay $10 and my show is sub par because the crowd that would be super enthusiastic if the band went on at 11:30 are still on their first drinks at 9:45? Bullshit! Oh well, they played well and their new album is going to kick ass (Oct. 11 y'all) even though Jesse Keeler from Death From Above 1979 and K-Os are too busy and huge right now to remix both 'Disco Blackout' and 'History', respectively, for the b-sides on the forthcoming 12" single.

This new Franz Ferdinand song is...weird.
