Originally recorded in 1943, this was written from the viewpoint of an overseas Soldier during WWII writing a letter home to his family, telling them to plan on his return. The ending is a bit sad as the Soldier returns home "only in [his] dreams".
Josh Groban did an update to this Christmas standard using recorded messages from real deployed servicemen and women in 2007. His album was the first Christmas album to remain in the #1 spot for five consecutive weeks.
