inherited geekery

We had a couple boxes of books in the basement that had been put aside for donation. They were mostly books Dad figured he'd never feel moved to read again. They were initially set aside for library donation, but we ended up donating to an elephant drive, which required some filtering. I was there to grab anything I'd like to read and be generally impressed by the selection. Some of them were biographies or old history books and the like. As for the rest... highlights included:

- All the Sharpe books, including a prequel with man-eating tigers (because apparently that is what pseudo-historical, evil overlords of India have instead of sharks)

- Mr. Scott's guide to the Starship Enterprise. (Fun fact: my uncle used to have a Star Trek medical guide on his desk. Boisvert brotherly bonding ftw.)

- 1980s picture guide to Star Wars

- An entire row of Star Trek books

- Katherine Kurtz books

- Brian Herbert Dune books that neither of us can muster the strength to read again. Or read in general.

and many other delights. Behold my father's geek cred. I am truly in awe.

I'm sure he was glad to be rid of it, and I got some classic works out of it. All around win.

books, dad, we're all mad here, damn straight i'm a geek
