Out out the valley of death & all that jazz

The Balaklava scene is done, except for final tweaking. Completely rewrote it last night. Ended up cutting the majority of the facts out, but tried to keep the horror and the sense of futlity - to highlight what would anger teenager of today without making reader switch off in boredom. Hope it works. Very dark bit of research for a small scene. Cross fingers that it makes it through Red's beta knife mostly intact.

Rewarded self with first viewing of The Usual Suspects. Very enjoyable episode, and all manner of giggly commentary with Red on Gizmo (virtual screening experiences are a hoot). But Sammy, for goodness sake be kind to your cast or it will never come off - Duh, Boys! Love the separation of Dean and Sam - the similarities and differences of their reactions to being arrested. Dean and frisky women ::shakes head:: Dean, Dean, Dean. If you didn't have all those cracks and wonderfully tormented layers underneath I don't know what we'd do with you. Oh - OK, yes I do, but better not post that. Truly great scene with Sam lying - and doing it very well, overlayed with scenes of what really happened. Love how they always have a backup plan for finding each other. Papa's teaching rocks. So does whoever is responsible for all the wonderfully kitsch hotel room design in every ep. Thank Kripke for having an end where the boys aren't responsible for saving themselves. Definitely need to rewatch this and Crossroad Blues for the many layers. Joyful week!

Must however remember to concentrate on finishing And Die In Thee this week. After all, I just talked Red and I into accepting an SPN Christmas Challenge each.

Let's hear it for the following prompts:

2) WeeChesters learn about the first Christmas whilst staying with Pastor Jim.
Didn't this just have Red's name all over it? Can't wait to see what she does to Pastor Jim

and for me? Well, it had to be:

15) John doesn't come home from a Christmas-Eve hunt, leaving wee!Sam and wee!Dean alone on Christmas Day. (gen)

Yes, this will be a dark one (all right, I admit it I don't do happy fic. Torment is better.) Let's face it, Christmas is the darkest time of the year for many people. Death to all supermarket carol music!

Meanwhile in RL - must stagger to gym now, then work chaos. And somehow after work manage to fit in gym Christmas party (better not be any Abba or carols), and movies with globetrotting friend, and finish writing that Dean sex scene. Must go take lots and lots of vitamins now, and rethink decision to give up caffeine. Maybe give up next week, or for New Years ...
