Damn it!

Have no internet or phone (thank goodness for the mobile!) connection from home at present. Some contractor laying conduits for a rival telecommunications company 'accidentally' cut through our lifeline to the world the other day.

Yesterday one of the repair people had a good laugh at my suggestions to just McGyver it with duct tape. Apparently the sacred DT does not work on electricity or whatever (*throws hands in the air* it's a mystery to me, none of my degrees are in science, I just flip switches and wait for lights to come on, it could all be done with mirrors for all I know) goes through those cables.

As of this morning when I eased my way out of my driveway between all the trucks and workmen, there were 5 separate teams digging bigger trenches. Supposedly a little bypassy thing around the cut like you see Sam do on alarm systems doesn't work. They have to strip out however many metres of cables it takes to replace stuff between certain junctions. Or some such tale. I got a bit fuzzy after the first few minutes of simple English explanation.

Anyway, our street might, just might, possibly be restored to life this evening, or tomorrow, or Saturday. Grrr.

So I've had to log in remotely from work or the local public library to make the odd short posts. I can't download anything though, or get my home emails.

If you need me urgently (Camille?), email my LJ listed hotmail, or my work email for those of you that know my evil twin.

Just what I needed when I have 2 fics backed up (okay, I only finished Talk to Me last night - 5,000 words to get it done in one evening! Whee! - but that's not the point, it's in the out pile so that totally counts) to post (with one of them having a Halloween deadline), and comments to get to people.

I need coffee. And the head of the slicer on a platter. And Winchesters...

real life and all that jazz
