He got a choice. He didn’t have to love Jess, but he did. He chose to love her, the way he’d never gotten to choose anything else in his life.
Very interesting take.

I really liked this. I especially like the idea of Sam having the choice to love Jess. It makes me wonder-is the fact that Dean "love[d] everything" his way of trying to exercise this choice? Because otherwise, in a sense, he's the only one of the three of them who never got to choose, if that makes sense.

Thank you. The Sam/Jess choice idea is something my beta was very strong on.

Dean - there's so much hurt under all that flirting, joking, (Un PC "perky nipple" comments *winces*), loving loudness. Dean never really got to have anything other than Sam. Dean hides so much of himself under neath that seemingly shallow exterior. *pets Dean*

I liked this character study a lot, esp. John treating getting laid like another mission and this line from Sam
"It was feeling so swamped that sometimes he couldn’t breathe under the weight of all of that unconditional love." and the Deanness of Dean's part.

THanks for the lovely comments. It was hard trying to keep 3 totally different character voices in my head and I wasn't sure I had the balance quite right. Glad you liked it. More swamped Sam emo fic coming up in the next month or so :)
