No. 5 is alive!

Sorry everyone,

I disappeared down the rabbit hole for far too long.
Had a lovely long weekend with my last visitor and was all set to retake my LJ all guns metaphorically blazing after a few days withdrawal and then a whole lot of RL disasters hit.

My elderly mother decided once more that she was deathly ill, as hypochondriacs are wont to. Grrrr. Many expensive tests later, the result? What her GP and I knew damn well, she was perfectly fine for her age.

Then a friend had a dreadful personal crisis and a group of us have been doing shifts helping her and the family out at home and at hospital. It's all been sad, and very fraught.

In the middle of this work has been horrific, and we've had fieldwork students mucking our scheduling around and some days it just seems you've left work without much getting done. Next week I've got the first of 3 big seminars I'm co-presenting to do. Eek! Can I not stand up in front of a ton of people all miked up? I'm going to have flashbacks to my singing gigs a few months ago. Although, now I come to think about it, if I just sing to them instead of giving the work presentation, they may just stay awake a few minutes longer ... or they may all just run away screaming - either way it's all good and I could go back to work.

Ah well, thank goodness this week is over. Tomorrow I'm rocking up to my car place to get the replacement CD unit fitted in my car. 2 months to get from Japan to here. Better work and sound good. At least it is under warranty because the original was faulty, and I remember their attached cafe has a great chef (I admit having a cafe and a chef shouts YUPPIE! But at 8am on a winter morning when I'd rather be cocooning in bed with a Winchester my laptop, I'll force myself to put up with it.) As breakfast is free, I'm just going to move my iPod and laptop in there while they install it and get some writing done while I down a lot of coffee. Um if I can work that very hi-tech Italian coffee machine they have. I'd hate to have to pull the female card and twirl my hair and ask a guy to make the coffee, um although the chef was cute, if not quite up to Winchester standards. Sunday I've got a friend's Christmas (oh no, I said the C word!) in July party to go to. Her parties usually last all day, which I don't have time for. Too much writing to do, so I'll have to see if I can stay the polite 2-3 hours and then sneak out the back way with the laptop.

Fic update:

It's been slow. Just bits here and there amongst the chaos, but Let's call it fate is FINISHED!!! and going off to the beta tonight. And if the coffee is good at the car place tomorrow, hopefully S is for Winchester will be this weekend too. A few other fic are part-way to completion, so I have hope, that the planets are finally aligning on the fic front because it has been a very slow two months.

On a positive note secret-seer remade my banner for Fate into something amazing - see?

Rumour has that she is also finishing up the series banner for it too. Yeah, it is now part of a series with S, and a few more upcoming fic. The Hollow Hours inspired by the Brian May song "Back to the light." Stay tuned.

*makes sad face as she takes a sip of instant coffee* Ew! Instant and cold - not a good combination. *wanders off to bring out the plunger, and to hell with the fact that it is still Friday evening and I usually save the luxury of real coffee till the weekend* I NEED REAL COFFEE, AND I WANT IT NOW!

Oh, and to prove how awesome secret-seer is. This is what she sent me at work today (I just did a badly concealed paste job to whack Argent in over my secret RL identity *G*)

She gets Dean to steal Sammy's coffee so I could have it! How sweet is that? Thanks Dean (yeah Sam too), and thanks, SS!

real life and all that jazz
