God, this weekend has been full of fic that intrigues enough for me to keep the email notices hanging around in my inbox and yet I am way behind in my reading. In amongst all the SPN stories I want to read, I'm also in the process of reading a 300+ page Lancer fic that I'm enjoying immensely. I even had a 3 day weekend and still my inbox is getting fuller with fic I want to read!

I definitely will read more of yours and, at this point, am quite pleased to know they're not as long :). There's hope for me yet ;).

Now, if you've already read my recent response to you about S3 angst, my next comments probably won't surprise you but I will say, generally, since the boys are suffering so much just with what canon deals them, I'm not one to look for stories that include self-harm, suicidal thoughts, drug-use/abuse, etc. as part of the storyline. Not that, given the boys' existence, any of these concepts are completely out of character. It's just that they already have so very much to deal with and now, with S3, I've found that never before imagined angst threshold.

Having said this though, if I find an author I really enjoy, I'm not going to let these plotlines deter me. At all. Hell, I even recently read a Dean slash story by a gen fic-writer I love and didn't run away screaming *LOL* which would normally be the case.

Just to segue a minute... I don't hate slash but I don't see it at all with any of the Winchesters. And as far as Dean is concerned? I married him 16 years ago (trust me, some of my flisties are sick of me making comparisons *g*) so I know he's straight as an arrow ;).

IOW, if the story's well-written, I'm not easily thrown and I definitely look forward to reading more of yours ;).

So much fic, so little time? Yeah, one could spend forever just downloading and reading. Tis very hard to keep up (that's my problem at the moment too). Lancer - that I know absolutely nothing about. I'm going to pester you all about that topic in a month or so when I get a nice gap in the fic schedule.

I love the angst, but what I love more is the guys ability to survive it and come out the other side, and still be so human and giving, and loving despite all that they have suffered. So generally if I'm inflicting pain it is not out of a vicarious need to see them in pain, but I want to see how their character's change and grow with all that happens to them. Pretty much the spirits purged pure in the fire concept.

Fear not, some of the Advent fic coming up are lighter stories. Some of the others unfortunately aren't though.

I'm pretty much a gen girl, but I will make exceptions for something by a great writer.

You married a Dean? You go, girl!

You married a Dean? You go, girl!

Oh, I did *g*. I love watching SPN with him because inevitably the hubby will say something out loud in reaction to Sam or another character and I'll laugh my ass off because what comes from his mouth is *exactly* what Dean says in the ep at the same time. Though my guy has mellowed now that he's in his early 40s, the Dean we know reminds me so much of the young early twentysomething I fell head over heels for, it really is remarkable. Same smartass attitude, same disregard for authority, same blind faith and loyalty toward those he does regard highly, same ability to take charge in a crisis, as capable as all get out (one of my man's best friends used to call him "MacGyver" LOL), same music, same plaid shirts and holey jeans, no handguns (we're in Canada, after all) but he's got at least 3 shotguns that I know of, makes his own ammo... even offered to make me a rock-salt shot, if I wanted him to. I have resisted saying yes ... so far ;)

Alas, the baggage is much the same too, though my guy lost his mom at age 6, not 4 and is the youngest of 4 kids. Abandonment issues and striving to please those he looks up to do exist, though not as bad now as when he was a young man.

And though he's packed on the pounds over the years, he still has Dean's shoulders and arms that are to die for ;).

The following are shots of him when he was about 19. The first shows off the arms and shoulders a bit more than the second but that second one reminds me more of Jensen (the shorter hair, I guess).

You realise all your friends must want to kill you, don't you? Heh. I see exactly what you mean.

::rubs your userpic for similar luck in next life::

BTW You shouldn't have said the sacred 'MacGyver' word. I got so hot I had to turn my airconditioning on!

LOL, at least you have air conditioning!

Trust me, some times the Dean-like baggage makes life difficult and I want to strangle the guy. Other times, I'd say I'm more than a little content ;).
