Leoben kept telling himself that Thirteen really thought he was doing good things and defending his master's honor. It was hard to deal with though and sort of annoying. Trying to get Thirteen to stop was sort of impossible too and worse than even trying to get Calliope to go to sleep.

He wanted to blame it on the new animals showing up and the landscape changing again, but he wasn't sure if maybe he was somehow teaching Thirteen to act aggressively without even meaning to. That he'd somehow frakked up and now Thirteen was always going to bully other animals around.

It concerned him and as his puppy kept growling and yipping at a baby monkey chittering high up in a nearby tree, he wondered where he'd gone wrong. Granted, the stupid thing had throw sticks at them and kept taunting the husky by jumping back and forth from tree branch to tree branch, but that wasn't a good enough reason to kill it.

The fifth or fourth time Thirteen tried to dig his claws into the trunk of the tree in order to climb up and possibly eat the monkey's face off, he scooped the dog up and eyed him sternly until the barking finally stopped.

"No. Bad dog. You have to stop doing this."
