25 Random Things

(Actually sa Facebook ito na-tag, but I still wanted to post it here, so there. :P)

1. I have a very eclectic taste in music. Case in point: my mp3s include Daft Punk, Damien Rice, DMB, David Benoit, Deep Purple, Depeche Mode, Destiny's Child, Dido, Dishwalla, Dixie Chicks, Donna Summer, Dream Theater, The Dawn, Dan Fogelberg, Dan Hill, David Pack, Def Leppard, Desiree, Devo, Diana King, Dire Straits, DJ Jergen, Don McLean. And that's just for the letter D. :P I guess it's because of my reasons for liking a song, which are basically if it has a good melody or lyrics, I'd probably tune in to it. :)

2. My ability to learn a song is inversely proportional to my ability to learn dance steps. :P I keep telling this to my friends who love to dance that they can ask me to sing whatever song they want rather than learn a dance. I mean, I can dance, but learning dance steps for me take forever. :P (Considering I took up social dance and folk dance as my PEs in college, I still can't get the hang of it, although ok naman grades ko dun. :D)

3. I'm a frustrated musician. I wanted to learn to play the piano when I was a kid but I never got around to it. I know how to play just the notes of a song on a piano now, though, but at a relatively slower pace than I like. :P I started to learn the guitar in high school (because of 1st year music) but until now, the chords that I have memorized are just the major and minor chords. :P I have an acoustic guitar at home, but never have the time to play. I guess this means that using my voice is the only instrument-playing ability I can hone. :)

4. I like watching artists perform their music live, so I try to catch at least one concert every year. Fortunately, a lot of foreign artists have been performing here lately so this is easy to do. I watch local artists too, thanks to UP's multiple events. :)

5. I love walking. I can probably walk from my office to my home as long as I'm wearing comfortable shoes (or slippers for that matter) and listening either to an iPod or the radio. That's pretty far for a walk (think UP Diliman to Munoz, more or less). I've already walked from my high school to my home because there was no available jeeps or buses due to flash floods.

6. I have started to jog again. (I think it's been two years since I've jogged regularly.) I haven't been playing any sports lately so I need something to jumpstart my metabolism. :P

7. I miss playing volleyball and badminton. It's hard to organize a volleyball game because it needs a lot of people and my close friends are not big fans of badminton. :P Badminton, anyone? :)

8. I love to travel. It's my resolution every year (this year's the 5th) to go to at least one place inside the Philippines and one outside. Nagagawa ko naman palagi so I hope I get to do it this year too. :)

9. Unfortunately, I have motion sickness. :P So, I have learned a lot of things to offset this whenever I travel (e.g. I bring mints, candies, I listen to music, I sleep!). It's kinda funny that Liz, Mylee and I share this trait, but we all love to travel. :P

10. I've planned on doing a scrapbook for each of my travels, but until now, they're just plans. I have all of the materials, I just haven't started doing any of them. :P Pati yung pictures di ko pa naayos so wala pa akong na-upload sa Multiply (haha sorry I know marami akong utang na pics. :P)

11. I don't know how to swim. :P I took summer swimming lessons when I was in high school, but I had an accident which needed stitches so I didn't finish my lessons. :P I really want to learn though.

12. I want to climb a mountain. The last mountain I climbed was Banahaw, and it was only up to the peak where I heard people are crucified during Holy Week. I don't think climbing the Taal peak counts. :P

(Note: shoot ang haba na nito, haha, at kalahati pa lang. :P)

13. Like Liz, I'm a computer engineering graduate. However, I don't want to be called a geek, not because I have anything against geeks but because I don't want to be labeled a geek just because I'm a computer engineering graduate. :P I'd like to think I'm much more than what my course was in college. :) (And hasty generalization ang sabihin na geek ang CoE graduate, hehe. :P)

14. (Hehe, I'm now going to contradict myself.) I like techie stuff (but no, I'm not a geek ). Sa barkada namin, I'm pretty sure I'm the one who owns the most gadgets (which includes a phone, laptop and its accessories, PDA, iPod and its accessories, digital cam, video cam, etc.) :P I don't have to have the latest model, though, just the one that will cover my needs. :)

15. I'm bad at remembering names. :( I can remember faces and where I've met them, but it's hard for me to memorize names unless I see them often. :P

16. I like reading, and I'm trying to reach the number of books that Mylee has. :P

17. I'm not much into e-books though, although I do have a few. I prefer reading a book on paper because I don't need to turn something on just to read it. :)

18. I finally have a room of my own. :P I've been sharing a room with my brother so you can just imagine how that helped our relationship. :)

19. I like watching movies, but I will not willingly watch a scary movie anymore. I vividly remember the last scary movie that I watched when I was younger and it was Halimaw sa Banga, one of the very earliest Shake, Rattle and Roll movies. I could not sleep well for days at hindi ko malapitan yung banga sa bahay ng lola ko. :P I saw the Blair Witch Project in a cinema (no choice because my friends then wanted to watch it at ako lang mag-isa ang ayaw) but I had my eyes closed most of the time, haha. :P

20. I did not plan on becoming a teacher, it just happened. :) My relatives aren't surprised though, because a lot of them are teachers themselves, including my late grandma.

21. I like kids. It's probably because I've been around them ever since I was 4, from my brother and to my 20+ younger cousins, now including my nieces, nephews, godchildren. :)

22. I was once allergic to chicken and eggs. The first time I ate chicken was in 1st year high school. I went to lunch with Lorie and her mom in KFC. I had no idea then what KFC sells and Lorie of course had no idea I was allergic when I was a kid. Buti na lang hindi nag-react ng grabe nun, which meant ok na akong kumain ng chicken. :)

23. I'm still allergic to dust and cigarette smoke, though. If I don't drink anti-allergen meds when I start having a cold as a reaction to it, it would unfortunately proceed to my having an asthma attack. :( Mukhang mas mataas na naman yung tolerance ko for it though, but I have meds available just in case.

24. I only started liking spicy food when I was in college, because the person I was with loved to eat spicy food, so natutunan ko ring kumain nun. :) I asked my mom why she doesn't cook spicy food (which explains why I never got around to eating anything spicy before) and she simply said "Ayaw ng daddy mo e." Kaya ayun. :)

25. (Wow, umabot na ako ng 25, akala ko hindi ko magagawa haha. :P) I would like to join the Amazing Race. :) I submitted a video once, with Tin L. as my partner, pero sobrang simple lang kasi ng video namin kaya siguro hindi man lang na-consider, haha. I've been thinking of who else I would like to join that contest with, kasi ayaw ni Mylee ng physical labor and my brother and I both do not know how to drive, so di pwede. :P I'd rather not ask my dad, kasi yung manood na nga lang ng concert ayaw nya, yung mag-ikot pa kaya sa ibang bansa.
