I went and read Tarot up at Blue Lotus Treasures today. No big shakes. It was lovely being there as always.
It was my big thing for today.
On the way back, I skipped my transfer point. So, I got off at Macy's. I'm itching for new canisters. They didn't have any I liked. And I think I'm leaning towards assorted sized mason jars for my canister needs. I did go into lust for a cast iron grill pan I saw. It was about 8" square, from Emeril's collection. I'm not particularly fond of Emeril, but it was a good grill pan for $25. Must keep in mind.
I think I want to go back to a stove top percolator. Gonna call my folks and see if they still have one they could send me.
Walked home from there, around the police scene. Don't know what it was about. But the DC police are stretched a little thin, due to the checkpoints in Trinidad. Which didn't stop 6 people being shot there last night, nor have they solved any of the murders which caused this response. And soon, Cathy Lanier will be pulling her 'All Hands on Deck' crap, which will cause some arrests, she'll claim we should applaud her for getting criminals off the street- most likely those deadly parking ticket ignorers instead of actually solving the murders.
About Michelle Rhee, the dictator in her ivory tower. She makes unilateral decisions concerning our school systems, which admittedly is not good. But simply firing personnel, not hearing the parents who send their children to the schools, and dictatorially choosing what our kids will learn smacks of the schools in North Korea and the old Soviet Union. And we know how those systems succeeded.
But standing behind these two is the Mayor, Adrian Fenty. He's learned the George W. Bush style of governing- complete secrecy. It's what limits accountability. Remember, this is the man who fired staff in Child Protective Services, rather than its chief officer, because leaders are not responsible for messing things up when children die, it's the staff. As it is for Mr. Fenty- keep it secret, support unable/incapable people in dictatorial roles, and blame the underlings who obey the orders.
There is a reason why this city keeps electing Marion Berry. And now I have a bit of a grasp on part of the answer. He actually did for the people.

Came home. After some rest and fluids, I cut covers for some of my books. 3 of them. I screwed up the fourth, but I can use those pieces for book dividers. And those are usable until a book section needs a book of its own. Right now, I'm starting three books-
-Cookery, Potions, & Spells;
-Visions, Dreams, Seeings, & Prophecy; and,
-My God/dess/es: the Hekatae, the Purple God of Healing, & Hestia.
Ok. It's late. Off to bed.
