[BL post] one two, one two

Jul 01, 2012 23:21

Oh hey, it's July. Wait what.

My warped sense of time aside, Caramel (by Okuyama Puku) has been licensed! Sure, there's no set release date yet, but just knowing is good. aaaaaaa I'm so excited for thissss
Update: a release date has been given- November 2012 aaaaaaaaaa

Anyway, it's recent/random titles this time around, because I clearly have no idea how I'm actually doing these things. The next issue of Craft is out this month, so that's something to look forward to, otherwise I'm just sort of focusing on upcoming games and waiting for the next release of the Persona 4 manga.

Devil's Honey (Natsume Isaku) and Koutetsu no Baby Leaf (Sunae Hata).

Because while Devil's Honey was released as a digital title by SuBLime - and I totally recommend people buy it - physical copies are still the best, if only because you can flick through it as you wish. Then again, I only have the computer to read digital titles, so I guess I'm not really the best judge for these things.

As for Koutetsu no Baby Leaf, it was mostly a purchase out of curiosity (since I picked up one of their other titles) and all I can tell is that it's silly. Cute and silly. A scanlation group has picked it up, but have only released the first chapter, so.

Castle Mango (Ogura Muku and Konohara Narise) and Samejima-kun and Sasahara-kun (Koshino).

First things first: whoever was in charge of Castle Mango's cover managed to mix up the author and artist, and I'm surprised no one actually picked up on it before printing. I'm sort of wondering if anyone's actually pointed it out to the company at this point, since it'd be a good idea to fix that.

I also have a slight problem with the fact that, when translating signs and backgrounds, 99% of the time they simply add a new textbox with the translation, rather than editing it in to fit. It can be pretty distracting TRASH :/ All that aside, it's a pretty enjoyable read, though who knows when the next volume will be out (I don't think it's even out in Japan yet, so).

Samejima-kun and Sasahara-kun pretty much fell under recommended titles to read. I sort of have mixed feeling on the art itself, but it really does suit the story, or something. Like, even if you think about it, there is no other artist who could have done it and made it work the way it has. I'm bad at explaining things.

And the first of SuBLime's physical releases! Three Wolves Mountain (Naono Bohra) and Honey Darling (Akira Norikazu).

The quality is amazing, seriously. Since most of the licensed titles I buy are from June, it's rather interesting to see the differences. I mean, if these two are the standard for physical releases, we'll actually have colour inserts to look forward to.

Though, considering the fact that SuBLime only have a set number of titles for print, making them count is probably a thing. I would have been all over a Devil's Honey physical release. Just saying. Awkward Silence's release is coming up, so I'm looking forward to that, plus there's Bonds of Dreams, Bonds of Love. It's a pretty good line-up, all in all.

bl, writing about things, external linking, manga, aaaaaaa
