Tech Support

Okay, so I know I've been inundating you guys with XKCD comics, and I promise this will be the last one in a while. However, I just HAD to post this. It is SO appropriate. Below is a demonstration of every geek guy and gal's pet peeve(I've named mine Lassie). Observe:

I so want that code word.

Trying to get tech support people off script and onto fixing the things I can't fix myself (and, usually, if it's in script I've already tried that) is often a challenge. Though sometimes if I play the "when I did tech support, I..." card it's enough to jar them into treating me like a real person. Then again, some only know the script ...

<3 XKCD.

P.S. Reading Mira Grant's Feed ... will review it at some point, but think you might like it. And, really, nothing better than a good book to distract you from mid-term angst .

I wish I could have that code as well. I dream of such a thing, though I've noticed that when I demand "Tier Two" technical support the people tend to go off script more.

And yes, it's the people who only know the script that bug that crap out of me. It's like talking to a robot. I once had a script guy make me go through the restart and unplug routine four times before he transferred me to someone who knew what was what. I finally just pretended I was doing what was being asked. Turned out it was a problem on their end anyways. Ugh.

I heart XKCD as well. :D As you can probably tell by my spamming of the f-list.

I'm completely freaking out about my paper that's due in two weeks and now you give me this. Heh. Of course, I've got a few days in the Bahamas planned so that may be what I read in my hammock while sipping on ( ... )
