Jul 13, 2016 09:13

Lucille had woken up as a dragon, and while she had thought she was beginning to get used to the disturbing events on the island, this was worrying and had taken her quite by surprise.

So what better idea than to seek out Cassandra? Had Lucille had time to think she would have remembered that Cassandra wasn't exactly fond of dragons, but that had slipped her mind. Because of this there was now scratching at the door.

Cassandra whinnied - whinnied! - at the sudden noise. She gritted her teeth, ignoring the banging of a cloud against the window, and trotted to the door.

She was hardly going to be ashamed of the island messing with her.

She managed to tug the door open with her teeth... and immediately snarled. As well as a pony could snarl. Drake! Where was her sword?!

If a dragon could look miserable and rejected, Lucille did. Her wings slumped and she took a step back, which meant her tail bumped into the opposite wall.

"Cassandra?"

Cassandra's front hooves clacked back onto the floor.

"... Lucille?"

"You are a pony." Lucille stated the obvious.

"You are a drake," Cassandra hissed.

"I didn't choose to be," Lucille pointed out. "Why are you hissing?"

"Dragons are dangerous," Cassandra pointed out. Loudly.

"Do you fear me?" Lucille said sulkily.

"No," Cassandra muttered. "But your appearance is something of a shock."

Sorry, Lucille. Family of dragon hunters.

"You are a pony," Lucille reminded her. "I didn't expect that either."

Which wasn't quite the same thing.

"Although I suppose you are less dangerous."

"I cannot hold a sword in this form," said Cassandra, who had, to be fair, not actually tested out how flexible cartoon pony hands were. "It is ridiculous. Hopefully this will end by next morning."

"I understand these things rarely last long," Lucille said, and without thinking about it she wrapped her tail around her legs.

"They had better not," Cassandra muttered. "With Anders returned, I need all of my faculties and abilities."

"I saw him in class," Lucille said. She had also been annoyed that he had been reading the book Cassandra had gave her. "He looks deceptively innocent."

Lucille was certainly not going to doubt Cassandra's judgement of him. Besides, he was friends with Dante and had been a friend of Kathy's, so he kept bad company.

"Of course he does," Cassandra said, rolling her eyes. "You never saw him attempting blood magic - or giving cheek."
