Character Survey - Jack Noir
Body and Appearance
1. Describe the character's height and build. Is he heavyset, thin, short, rangy?
Medium height, lean. He's pretty thin but not twig-like.
2. How old is he?
Completely irrelevant. The incipisphere is a timeless expanse and Derse's concept of time is very skewed. He was created as a fully matured dersite and doesn't physically age anyway.
But for the record, he can only be as old as the kids whose session he inhabits. Thus, Jack would be 13 in human years.
AS A HUMAN he's somewhere in his mid twenties.
3. Describe his posture. Does he carry himself well or does he slouch?
He slouches a lot, but tends to straighten up when he's in a good mood. Which isn't all that often.
4. How is his health? Is he fit or out of shape? Any illnesses or conditions? Any physical disabilities?
He's very fit in terms of exercise, but he's not a health nut or anything so his diet is kind of shitty. He blows all his money on fancy blades/pianos so he sticks with cheap prepackaged stuff for food.
And foodbars, now that he's in the Facility. So I guess he eats exactly how much he needs to survive, minus all the flavour?
5. How does he move? Is he clumsy, graceful, tense, fluid?
He's pretty tense most of the time, but stick him in front of a piano and he's graceful and relaxed as hell.
6. How attractive is this character physically? How does he perceive himself in the mirror?
He has beautiful hands. He's pretty handsome for a dersite and thinks of himself as alright, but he just doesn't give much of a shit about his appearance or looking pretty. As long as he's not in a fucking pink dress or something.
7. Describe his complexion. Dark, light, clear, scarred?

AS A HUMAN he's actually the polar opposite and is quite pale.

Bald :V
AS A HUMAN very dark black, short, usually messy because he thinks hair is stupid anyway.

Pure white.
AS A HUMAN very dark brown.
10. Does the character have any other noteworthy features?
He has sharp teeth, but smooth fingertips instead of claws.
11. What are his chief tension centers?

Everything.
12. What is the character's wardrobe like? Casual, dressy, utilitarian? Bright colors, pastels, neutrals? Is it varied, or does he have six of the same suit?
Monochrome. Blacks and dark greys with a little bit of white. Most of the time he just wears his uniform, but he does have a couple suits for special occasions. He detests bright colours, ohgod.
13. Do his clothes fit well? Does he seem comfortable in them?
Well they were made specifically for him, so they all fit pretty damn well!
14. Does he dress the same on the job as he does in his free time? If not, what are the differences?
Mostly the same, yeah.

Speech
1. What does this character's voice sound like? High-pitched, deep, hoarse?
Gruff and a little hoarse.
2. How does he normally speak? Loud, soft, fast, evenly? Does he talk easily, or does he hesitate?
He's either muttering or yelling, rarely in the middle. A little on the fast side, but not too fast.
3. Does the character have a distinct accent or dialect? Any individual quirks of pronunciation? Any, like, you know, verbal tics?
He swears a lot. Also, when prototyped he is at the mercy of his animal prototypings. If he's really worked up or surprised he'll HISSCAW at you and it's hilarious. He also hisses and growls a lot in general, which rubs off even on his unprototyped self sometimes. And he purrs. Which is also hilarious and he will do whatever he can to avoid it.
4. What language/s does he speak, and with how much fluency?

5. Does he switch languages or dialects in certain situations?
One language herp.
Actually sometimes he gets into heated arguments with Crowen by CAWing back and forth but he has no idea what he's saying.
6. Is he a good impromptu speaker, or does he have to think about his words?
He thinks he's good at puns but at least half the time he fucks them up or they're just awful. Actually they're always awful, they're puns. His pun success rate tends to get worse the longer he dwells on them.
7. Is he eloquent or inarticulate? Under what circumstances might this change?
In the middle? He's not an amazing speaker, but he can hold a conversation and not sound retarded.
Mental and Emotional
1. How intelligent is this character? Is he book-smart or street-smart?
Street smart, definitely. He's pretty intelligent, it comes with the job.
2. Does he think on his feet, or does he need time to deliberate?
Jack is definitely an improviser. He's quick to act and rarely puts more than a few minutes of thought into his plans, long term strategies are more DD's division.
3. Describe the character's thought process. Is he more logical, or more intuitive? Idealistic or practical?
Intuitive and practical. He's not afraid to take risks or gamble but he's a realist who doesn't rely too much on baseless hopes.
4. What kind of education has the character had?
Tube-fed knowledge required to perform his duties?
5. What are his areas of expertise? What, if anything, is he interested in learning more about?
Filing shit, even if he hates it. His actual interests include music and swordplay/shanking people, same thing.
6. Is he an introvert or an extrovert?
Introvert, all the way across the sky.
7. Describe the character's temperament. Is he even-tempered or does he have mood swings? Cheerful or melancholy? Laid-back or driven?
EXTREMELY ANGRY, ALL THE TIME. Even when he's in a good mood he looks pissed off. Even when he's being nice he looks pissed off. Really, if you don't know Jack very well he just looks pissed off 27/7, but if there's a way to be nice to someone while still scowling and swearing then he's found it.
8. How does he respond to new people or situations? Is he suspicious, relaxed, timid, enthusiastic?
Suspicious, but he tends to avoid new people unless they catch his interest somehow. Even then he keeps his distance until he has a legitimate reason to interact with them.
9. Is he more likely to act, or to react?
Jack does both in the extremes, but usually he's the first to act. The first thing he did after getting the ring was set about destroying everything that might oppose him, after all.
10. Which is his default: fight or flight?
Stabs.
11. Describe the character's sense of humor. Does he appreciate jokes? Puns? Gallows humor? Bathroom humor? Pranks?
Very dark humour, but he's also a lover of puns of any kind. Even if he sucks at them.
12. Does the character have any diagnosable mental disorders? If yes, how does he deal with them?
Does being an extreme sociopath count? He deals with it by stabbing everyone he doesn't like/sometimes people he does like. YEP.
13. What moments in this character's life have defined him as a person?
Killing the Black Queen, and everything that followed.
I think his decision to form a truce with the HS kids in the Facility was also a defining moment, as this was the point where they officially put aside their differences to work towards a common goal.
14. What does he fear?
Jack's greatest fear is betrayal. He doesn't have many close friends (or friends at all) because he's afraid they might turn on him due to his power or actions.
15. What are his hopes or aspirations?
Jack wants power and respect (or fear, same diff). He had the highest ranking position on Derse aside from royalty and pretty much everyone hated him because he's a total asshole. He was constantly mocked by the Queen as well, and it pissed him off that he did so much work to run the kingdom while the sovereigns could just fuck around and still get praise.
So he killed everyone!
16. What is something he doesn't want anyone to find out about him?

Actually his biggest secret would probably be how he wants to have a bad hatemance with BQ.
Relationships

Jack thinks cloning tubes are 0k.

No siblings/all the siblings, all of them?
3. Are there other blood relatives to whom he is close? Are there ones he can't stand?

His crew/cohorts: CD, HB and DD. He cares a lot about them even if he doesn't seem to show it much, but he respects them and listens to them. Most of the time. He intentionally tries to distance himself due to all those trust issues of his, but basically he cares about them a lot even if he tries not to make that obvious.
5. Who is/was the character's best friend? How did they meet?
DD is everyone's moirail, trufax. I assume they met because Jack is his boss and they also both play jazz.
6. Does he have other close friends?
On Derse? Just his crew :V
In the Facility, he also considers Dave pretty close now, thanks to shenanigans. Ramona and John are also edging into that category. Basically with Jack you're either a close friend or not a friend at all.
7. Does he make friends easily, or does he have trouble getting along with people?
Jack's idea of a friendly greeting is not to stab them immediately.
8. Which does he consider more important: family or friends?
Both are the same thing??? But I guess if you're comparing friends and crew, the crew still comes first.

Nope! Unless you count kismesitude with BQ, but she's kind of dead now anyway.

Hatecrush on BQ aw yeah.
Jack kind of has a bit of a crush on PM, but mostly he's just being a jerk and thinks she's kind of hot.

Someone who doesn't care if he's a complete ass who tries to murder people all the time.

He is secretly very turned on by people who lord their power over him. He's probably really rough, sex would be more of a battle to him.

The gods just sort of chill at the edge of the universe near Derse. He is aware they exist. They kind of creep him out sometimes.

He has his own weird moral code that basically boils down to: if you do something for him, he'll return the favor. This counts for things that piss him off, too. His code is the only thing that keeps him from killing everyone and everything, so it would take a hell of an excuse to make him compromise it--either insanity or to save his own life, pretty much.
4. How does he regard beliefs that differ from his? Is he tolerant, intolerant, curious, indifferent?
Completely indifferent.
5. What prejudices does he hold? Are they irrational or does he have a good reason for them?
He thinks trolls are really annoying but that's kind of the whole point.
Daily Life

Comfortable. He has a pretty stable job.

Highest ranking agent, topped only by the sovereigns themselves--except they're dead, so now he's the ruler. Ascending in rank blew his ego up like whoa.
3. Where does he live? House, apartment, trailer? Is his home his castle or just a place to crash? What condition is it in? Does he share it with others?
He probably lived in the castle somewhere due to his rank. It's a total mess and he just goes there to sleep, really.
4. Besides the basic necessities, what does he spend his money on?
Fancy blades and music stuff.
5. What does he do for a living? Is he good at it? Does he enjoy it, or would he rather be doing something else?
ARCHAGENT: MASTER OF PAPERWORK. He's actually amazing at it since he was created specifically to do that job, but he hates having to deal with people and is pretty anal about people filling out forms and whatnot properly. He slacks off most of the time just to piss off the Queen.
6. What are his interests or hobbies? How does he spend his free time?
SHARP THINGS and PIANO THINGS. Stabs and jazz, what more can you want?

Mostly cheap food/food bars durrr. He's primarily a meat eater but he'll still eat other things, he dislikes foods that are too sweet. He eats pretty regularly?
