February brings new developments! Let's start with the neighbors. Got fed up with their kids and their kids friends in my yard for the millionth time. Bit the bullet, and instead of going out there and getting myself into a conflict I couldn't back, I called my landlord again, frustrated, and explained to him that something needs to be done about it. I made it clear that I realize it's not his fault, but if I have to continously deal with it, I'm going to start looking for somewhere else. He handled it.. to the best of his ability. Went and talked to the d-bag next door. Not that I think it did anything. I caught the youngest of the two kids chasing eachother around my car this past weekend (the weekend right after), but since they were practically touching it, I went out and told them to get out of the yard myself. Art asked me to call him anytime they are in the yard and he'll come down, but I doubt he was going to make it for that one. I am glad he cares though, he's been a great landlord.
New SQ material has come to fruition! I finished it up in the studio with Kevin on Friday. Glad to be making progress again, and don't want to stop. Besdies, working with him is just fun, we laugh, and drink, and have a blast like old times. Josh didn't come with me for the recording sessions. Part of me wanted him to come so I could share the expierence with him, and part of me liked not having him there, since I don't have that oppertunity very often. This song is called "Perfect For Me", and is about being in love with the concept of love, and not with an individual. I might see if we can work on "Waiting" next, the song I had written in a style suited for Ron's band.
What's new with Little Blue Pill? Chris quit, which... couldn't have worked out better. After some new outbursts, and new issues on a double gig weekend, we decided that we would brave the risk of him quitting, and just tell him that we can't work with him unless things change, and he pulls himself together. Turns out, he's wanted to quit for almost as long as we've wanted to fire him. He hasn't been having fun (probably due to the hostility), and can't handle choosing/playing songs that he doesn't like for the success of the band. Both valid reasons to want to quit, and now hes going to stick around until we find a replacement, and thats that. All parties are pretty relieved, and now we can freely look for and audition new players.
Our gig this past weekend went great at the Common Pub. I was skeptical, because of my expierence there with Hemlok, but I shouldn't have been. Bristol fails to disappoint. There was an alright built in crowd, and aside from a shaky first set with some sound issues, we all got drunk and had an amazing time. Everyone loved us, a super old guy was drunk as hell and like.. conducting the band the entire time, a metal head at the bar kept throwing me metal hands and fist pounds every chance he got. This blonde girl named Jen was rocking out and dancing.. i let her sing a line of are you gonna be my girl, and made her curse at Mike when he broke a string, which was super funny. Also met this kid named Nick who thought we were awesome. Talked to him a bit later too. He reminds me of Ron a lot.. Kinda short.. a little cute.. I facebook stalked him afterwards (I told him i'd look him up). I haven't made a new friend in a long while, and I'm kind of hoping he turns into one. A replacement Ron lol. Besides, I need some more people to just go out with on my own, and he's going to come to the bean show, so maybe meeting some new people in Bristol isn't such a bad idea. I messaged him this morning, saying I need to go down to the bean this week to put up flyers, and to let me know if he wants me to tell him when, so I can have something to do other than go all the way down there to spend 5 minutes putting up flyers. I hope he says yeah, and doesn't think I'm a creeper.
Anyway, it's back to work time. Maybe someday i'll actually post these entries to my lj instead of keeping them in a txt file on my work pc.
