Ron should have realized something was bound to go wrong sooner or later. That eventually someone in his family, his friends would find themselves facing such circumstances. Things never had gone smoothly with them. It seemed no matter what they did, their lives were full of some sort of drama, danger, or both ( ... )

Not one but two Patronuses had burst into their quarters at Hogwarts, where Severus and Remus had been marking the day's homework and quietly discussing their day. Neither of them had corridor-patrol duty tonight, and so were enjoying the relative peace after a typically trying day.

Severus might not have Remus' fondness for the girl, but she had helped him with eBay and the innernet when he was trying to procure Remus' Christmas gift last year, and hadn't once taken the Mickey or even told anyone that he was aware of. Besides, she was exceedingly intelligent - if a bit too rigid and concrete in her thinking to give her the creativity necessary for excellence in Potions. An intelligent Gryffindor was such a rare breed that he would have come for no other reason than to help preserve that cognitive influence ( ... )

One can, perhaps, imagine the panic that was Remus' initial reaction to seeing the silvery stags appear in their sitting room and deliver their terrifying message. Will keep you informed. The silvery creature shot off toward the Headmistress' office and Remus rushed into the bedroom to divest himself of his teaching robes. His loose shirt, trousers, and low-heeled boots he transfigured into more serviceable attire as he strode back out to follow Severus through the floo, Ministry tracking be damned. It was odd enough for the two of them to be leaving the school together at this time of night. Wherever the ( ... )

The three of them arrived almost simultaneously, Snape and Remus jumping out of the fire while Ron nearly banged down the door in his haste. High-strung on tension over Hermione, Harry jumped at the noise and the sudden appearances, and turned on his heel to stride to the door and open it for Ron before he simply blasted his way through.

"Come in," he said impatiently, tugging Ron inside and shutting the door behind him.

"All right," he said somewhat breathlessly, turning to face the assembled company. "Something bad's happening to Hermione, but I don't know what. She got me this watch--" He took it out of his pocket to show them, "--like Mrs. Weasley's clock, and her hand was pointing to mortal peril." He clicked the watch open, and it took him a moment or two to realize that it had changed again--that Hermione's hand was now pointing toward Home. "She's at home?" He glanced around, as though expecting to see her in the flat somewhere, but of course she wasn't ( ... )

Somehow managing not to sigh with irritation, Severus glanced at Remus. They were summoned here to be asked to search Hogwarts, where they just left ( ... )
