(no subject)
Note: This is kinda long, and confusing, so read at your own peril ^^;
So, I was just watching You Are My Oppa (Infinite's show, if you're not familiar with the name), and I started thinking (shocking, right?) and came to a realization.
Just to clarify, I'm perfectly fine having friends who have different biases than me. In fact, two of my closest friends on LJ right now share almost none of the same biases I do, so even though the problem stems from that, it'snot the main cause.
Well I realized that if someone has a different bias than me, and they spazz to me about that idol constantly, it sort of... idk, turns me off of them? Like for example, one of my friends LOVES UKiss. She thinks they're the greatest things to ever happen to kpop, and for a while I was inclined to partially agree with her. Well, her bias from UKiss is Kibum, and mine's Kevin. I'm fine with that. She spazzes to me about him. I'm fine with that too. She also spazzes about UKiss constantly, which is fun and she's really entertaining when she does it. But here's the problem. Because I'm not as into them as she is, all of her spazzing seems to have moved me farther away from UKiss. I'm not blaming her, not at all, I think it's just some hardwiring in my brain that's doing it. Now, I just don't care for UKiss as much as I did.
Another thing that happened that led me to this conclusion: one of my other friends is a huge Sungjong stan (the maknae from Infinite). Myungsoo is my bias, but Sungjong was a close second. But she spazzes about him /all the time/, and watching the YAMO episodes, I realized that I just don't like him as much as I did.
And BEAST. I started off not liking them, then my friend (the same one who loves UKiss) really got me into them. Her bias was Kikwang, and so was mine, so when we spazzed it was awesome. But then her bias changed to Hyunseung, and she started flailing about him and the other members of BEAST and Kikwang dropped way down on her list, and nowadays I find myself uninterested in BEAST as a group, and I only pay attention to Kiwi.
On the other hand, it could just be because those groups have stopped showing up as much on shows and aren't promoting any songs atm. SHINee came back with Lucifer, and I'm stanning them so hard, even though I didn't even give them a passing thought after Hello Baby went off the air. So maybe the spazzing = decreased interest only applies to individual members of idol groups.
