Actually, I can't remember whether this first bit happened on Saturday or Sunday morning. Whichever day ... it was cool.
I have a 1.5" diameter faceted crystal globe hanging in front of the east-facing window in my dining room. Occasionally, I've posted photos of the little prism rainbows that show up on our dining room walls &/or ceiling. Like this one:
This was probably about 7" of rainbow--which is unusual, and perhaps more intense in color than the picture shows.
Anyway...When I pull the curtain open across my dining room window to let in the morning sunshine, the curtain sometimes slides across the crystal sending it twirling. On the weekend morning in question, the twirling crystal projected a spinning wheel of rainbow high on the wall on the far side of the dining room. An open circle of prism rainbows, spinning and spinning so fast as to present a steady run of changing colored light. It was amazing! Even better to watch than the big Ferris Wheel at the State Fair!
Then on Sunday morning and early afternoon, MyJeff and I followed our Marketing/PansyPlanting/FireBowling Saturday with the somewhat more heavy-duty Yard Work Sunday. MyJeff dug out numerous saplings that had grown along and/or through our fence. That included one maple sapling with at least an inch or so diameter trunk that stood about 10 feet high. This was dug out with care of some rooting, and presented to the neighbors from two doors to the south of our house, who came to the fire bowl. They've been wanting a tree or two. Now they have one.
I maneuvered my way through picking out pots/window boxes and dirt/potting soil mixes to accommodate the rest of my plant purchases. In their original little packs, I present my lettuces and strawberries:
When there are red strawberries, I'll probably snap a photo or two for posting before I chomp down the berries.
A few dozen feet away, these lovely red tulips once filled the flower bed for a couple of feet out from the neighbor's foundation; and, when they faded, poppy plants would take their turn in the sun. The particular neighbor who arranged that progression of beauty passed away from cancer several years ago. These few blooms are all that managed to return so far this year. Worse yet, the new neighbors had a party with quite a few small children on Sunday. Only one of the blooms survived the little children. Sigh... I'm really glad I took a couple of photos so I can at least enjoy them a little more.
Thanks go to another neighbor with his trailer full of branches and such, who swung by the house this morning to help MyJeff toss in our several years' worth of branches and brush. He took the yard detritus to some disposal place that he often uses for his yard care business. Apparently, he was reluctant to take the money MyJeff gave him for his time and effort. A small business man needs to respect his pay, but it is difficult to take cash from friends and neighbors sometimes.
Goodness! The evening has flown away on an owl's silent wings!
Sleep well, my friends. Thanks for reading.
