Today MyJeff and I return to the State Fair via the free Park & Ride bus for another round of the Minnesota Great Get-Together Wonders. My camera is already in my fanny pack, although I won't promise as many photos as last time. The forecast could be better ... but not by much: 77 F (~23 C) and partly cloudy with winds at 10-14 mph. Pretty darned close to weather perfection, IMHO. On the down side: it IS Saturday (and a gorgeous one at that) so it's bound to be even more crowded than we're used to. But we'll handle it.
A couple of days ago I meant to post about being able to check out early morning stars again, now that the sunrise has moved into the 6:30 a.m. range. (Since my surgery, I sleep in later than I used to. I'm hoping this alteration in my rhythms will switch back soon.) The eastern sky, which is the portion I have a fairly good view of, doesn't currently hold many of the big bright heavenly bodies that can shine through the city light pollution. Most of the Bright Lights (Venus, Saturn, Jupiter, even Mars) are currently hanging out very near the sunset horizon which is blocked from my view by interfering cityscape. But good old Orion is hunting in the east-southeastern sky before sunrise. The other morning I was able to smile at him when I stepped onto the back deck first thing after arising for the day. Half an hour later, I brought The Boys outside and only red Betelgeuse and Rigel (Orion's shoulder on our left and his foot on our right) were still visible. Change happens so quickly.
Now I must finish packing the backpack, feed The Boys, and roust MyJeff out of bed.
The Adventure Begins! ... Again!
