R. and I have been remodeling an older house for a number of years now...
Actually,
the word "remodeling" is a little too prestigious for our process.
We are really...
reordering small spaces for sane usage...cheaply and almost continually.
The hardest and most stressful project thus far
has been replacing a toilet...
So....
there we were...stoic plumbing amateurs
with no prior knowledge of what had to be done,
poised over that black, sinister hole leading to the septic tank
with our new, immaculate toilet bowl,
freshly equipped with it's oh so sticky wax ring,
and sealant to connect with the floor dripping from it's perimeter.
We felt destined for a perfect landing...
R., holding tightly to the stern and I, to the bow of the thing
when we both, in unison, said
"What bolts...! I don't see those bolts!
