Wry thoughts
Fandom is predominantly White and female, so when racism is discussed in online fandom, it tends to be a bunch of White girls squabbling amongst themselves. Including me! :-) From the perspective of FOC this probably looks pretty hilarious.
The discussion is also, erm, coloured by the fact that it's fandom and therefore tends to fall into panicked defensiveness or unqualified hatred for the show and its makers - in various forums, I've seen both in response to Voyage of the Damned.
