Mugging in the International Mall parking lot
My mother was mugged in the parking lot of the International Mall in Tampa. She was walking to her car around 9:00 p.m Friday when someone hit her in the back of the head, knocking her to the ground. They beat her really severely, and were probably intending to rape her, as they pinned her to the ground, ignoring her purse and wallet. Luckily they fled before doing anything else because someone heard her screaming and ran up to her. Even so, she has broken bones and her face was beaten to a pulp.
She doesn't know anything about her attackers, other than that there were three of them, and she is pretty sure all three were white. Not a whole lot for the police to go on, so everyone, ladies in particular, watch out. Even if you are in a nice area, be careful. She was just walking to her car after having dinner with her friends, and now she has spent the better part of the weekend in the hospital.
