Here's an essay from the little book I'm working on, The Great Communicator called "It Has Sense" about thinking in two languages.
It’s difícil to pensar in dos languages, but yo think que vale la pena. My mente está working doble time, on dos diferentes lados of a curtain. Men’s bathroom and women’s bathroom have become unisex, one lugar común para two different tipos of things.
Por ejemplo, thinking de occurrences pasados, I recollect alguien saying algo pero in Spanish, cuando ellos don’t even speak español. It really es difícil, but estoy acustombrado by now. Solo puedo imagine what pasará when surrounded by personas que don’t understand español and English, y entonces when digo yo something equivicado o awkward-sounding, like not using possessive sujetos, the house of my parents, el carro of my sister, etc. No habrá entendimiento. Al leer this, lo que he escrito, I understand it perfectly. Tiene mucho sentido for me, pero for you, careful reader, requirirá hard-thinking. Have you read A Clockwork Orange? Excrito en a language of apparent nonsense, modismos, pero after reading por un tiempo, one becomes acustumbrado and understands it. Como learning Spanish, no entendía everything, but unas words caught en mi mente and I sort of fit them juntos para make sense. No estoy comunicandome very well, but at least podrás understand como se siente not knowing everything. Comunicacíon becomes more difícil, and aún understanding lo que está said isn’t even the same. Spanglish no es un lenguaje, real, pero I speak it and espero llegar a sentir something I once y todavía siento.
