Room 216 | Late Afternoon | Sunday | August 8

Aug 08, 2010 11:34

For the most part, Jonas had stayed in the dorms. The one time he'd gone out, there had been the most gruesome sorts of creatures imaginable and he hadn't wanted to repeat that. He was unscathed but incredibly worried. He kept silently talking to himself, making promises with unnamed deities that he'd be on his best behavior if Beka would come ( Read more... )

Wounds dressed, Beka had planned on going up to her room and wash up. She knew he'd worry, but the three additional flights of stairs up to her room suddenly felt miles away.

The rush of the fight had long worn off. Her wounds ached, but it was duller thanks to the medicine and now she just wanted quiet. She wanted to see Jonas and curl up and not worry.

Her feet were moving of their own accord, Pounce was ahead of her, pushing open the cracked door to Jonas room and instantly jumping on his bed. Hi to you too, Jonas.

Beka was a little behind and she stopped when she saw Jonas, relief written over her features as she studied him for injuries. She should say sommat, but naught was coming to mind and just looking at him was enough for now.

At the sound of his door opening, Jonas had gone still expecting an attack or a rip to swallow him up. He waited and nothing came. Chancing it, he turned around and his eyes fell on Beka, in one piece.

"B-Beka?" he asked, voice cracking just a bit as he stood up, nearly pushing his chair down in his haste. "You're back. You're back!"

If he could move that fast, he had to be well and even through the tiredness, she couldn't stop the smile.

"I'm back," she agreed with a nod and then she was moving towards him and hugging him. Mayhap twas more clinging than hugging. "Are you well? Did you get hurt?"

"I didn't," he said, embracing her tightly, forgetting that she might be injured. He was just too relieved that she was back and whole and that he could hold her again. "I'm all right, I promise. Are you? Are you all right? Do you need anything?"

She shook her head, burying her face in his shoulder and he could hold her as tightly as he liked. He was warm and solid, and he smelled good and she didn't want to move.

"A shower. I stink," she realised. Not that it made her pull back. "I'm sorry."

"You smell wonderful." No, she did smell but he didn't care. Not right now. "Did you want to take a shower? You can use mine. I've soap and shampoo and towels and and and -- "

He didn't stammer often but falling over himself due to the fact that she was back was something he couldn't help.

It sounded good. Warm water and clean clothes, getting rid of the grime of the world.

"Yes," she nodded and her fingers grabbed at his shirt. She was even forgetting to admonish him for the lie. "In a moment."

"How long were you gone?" he asked, rubbing her back very gently, just in case she did have cuts or bruises. "I mean, was the time different there than it was here?"

She had, but his touch felt good nonetheless and she leaned against him. "Twas hard to tell time there. We were under water so there was no sun, but I believe I was there two nights," she said. "How long was I gone?"

"Since Thursday," he said and turned his face into her neck, breathing deeply despite the smell. He didn't care. "It's Sunday now."

"One day lost," she murmured. She wrinkled her nose as she realised what he was doing and tangled her fingers in his hair. "Don't do that, you might get sick."

She could tease now. She missed teasing him.

"I missed you," he said as an explanation. "I don't care how you smell, Beka."

"Looby," she breathed, failing to even sound like she was scolding him. She was smiling and pressed a kiss to his shoulder. "I was worried you were stuck there too with no one to keep you out of trouble."

"I was here the entire time," he assured her quietly. "I helped them research what was going on. I ran from some unknown creatures while trying to help. I was here though. The island appeared to be dying."

She frowned and drew back a little, looking towards the window. "Do they need help?" she wondered, feeling guilty that she'd not gone out to see what needed to be done.

"You're not going out there," Jonas said, tightening his hold on her carefully. "No, Beka. I don't know where you were but there are others out there. You need to stay here."

It was part selfishness and part concern. Jonas didn't care which part was the dominant part. She was not leaving.
