Beka had noticed Jonas at the picnic, but they hadn't spoken and so it seemed fair to make up for it by visiting him now. Pounce had passed up on joining her, claiming that if he wanted to get nauseous, he'd eat some spoiled fish. Sarden cat.

She knocked lightly on the open door, smiling at him. "Are you reading sommat interesting?" she asked.

"Not really," Jonas said, peering over the book and smiling at Beka. "It's one I've read before but I haven't been to the library as of late so I'm making due. Hello, Beka."

"As to not get bored?" she teased, moving over towards the bed. "Hello, Jonas."

"To pass the time, yes," Jonas said, closing his book and dropping it beside him. "How are you this morning? Enjoying a day after the madness?"

"Twas a harmless kind of madness," she reasoned as she sat down on the edge of the bed, facing him. "I went running earlier, but it's getting much to warm for it now."

"Wait, what?" Jonas asked, looking at her in mock confusion. "Did I just hear you say it's getting too warm to exercise?"

"Outside," she wrinkled her nose at him. "Tis fine in the gym. I could drag you there to prove it to you," she offered, knowing very well he'd turn it down.

"I believe you, there's no need to drag me anywhere," he said, shaking his head. "I think I'd rather swim than run anyway."

"I like keeping my feet on the ground," she admitted, even if the cool water sounded nice.

"Your feet can be on the ground in a pool," Jonas pointed out. "If you're in the shallow end, at least. You can walk in the water. You can't run, of course, unless you wanted to wear yourself out quickly."

"Smartass," she teased, reaching up to tug his hair gently. "Stop making me want to go swimming when I don't like it."

Jonas laughed at the tugging and shook his head a bit. "What's wrong with swimming? It's an acceptable form of getting exercise. You don't sweat like you do while running and it's refreshing."

She frowned. "Tisn't regarded as such where I'm from," she said. "Not many people can swim."

"How did you learn?" Jonas asked, repaying the favor by reaching up and giving the ends of her hair a light tug.

She smiled and shifted a little closer. "We played a lot at the docks," she said. "I picked it up there from one of the other children, but twas necessity more than a game."

"We used to wade in a small stream near home," Jonas shared, smiling when she moved. "It wasn't nearly deep enough to learn to swim but I got used to the water that way."
