Also embarassing
I love citation! I am always surprised at how enjoyable it is. I write a sentence and I'm like, oh no, that sentence is horrible, I curse the day that it was brought from my own fingertips. Then I go to cite it and I go, look how much support its propositions have! And look how neatly it's laid out! And then enough morale has been restored to me to go write another sentence, plus I don't have a blank page staring at me anymore because the footnote takes up more space than the proposition it supports.
