So a hummingbird got into the barn, flapping away at the skylights. I was terrified it was going to die of exhaustion at any minute, cause hummingbirds do not have much to fall back on.
I opened the window that opened, and got up on the roof and covered the skylight it was at with a blanket (the extension ladder is fucking heavy. It went over the open window, but went on the wrong side of the pane, so it still couldn't get out. I scared it away from there, but it wen over the other remaining skylight.
It beat against there for a bit, and then stopped moving. I was sure it was dead. We brought the ladder in the barn, and while my dad went up to get it in a cloth, I ran and put some sugar and water in a bowl.
We got it out of the barn (it wasn't dead yet). But when we unwrapped, it just hung onto the cloth, and didn't go anywhere. I put some of the water in a trowel, and put the water right under the hummingbirds beak. It's tongue flicked out a couple of times. I did it again. I drank a bit more, and then it took off.
