Inspired by Marcus's exciting update, and since he inquired about my life, I think I'll actually make a real posting.
Ah, how my life is going. Well, the biggest news, for those of you who haven't heard, I'm not going to stay in the school of music. I feel boxed in with music classes and I really have a strong desire to be well rounded, so I'm going to explore some other fields of study, probably history or mathematics or both - at least thats my inclination at this juncture. If you want to know more, ask, but thats about the gist of it all.
Last Friday concert choir (along with a lot of the other UNL choirs) performed Mozart's Requiem, which was amazing. For those of you who haven't heard it, I would recommend getting a copy sometime if you like classical music at all. Now that I think about it, you've probably all heard it, because we listened to it in choir last year when we reviewed all the Requiems.
Ah, and I'm planning to move to Neihardt next year, so I'll get a new roomie and try out a different location. I got John to agree not to let Krista stay overnight when I'm around, so that problem is dealt with. Life is really pretty good.
Classes are going well. I have a philosophy class that is mostly dull - the professor is lifeless AND patronizing, but at least the quiz section is interesting - a more enthusiastic Indian grad student that I really like, even if he does miss our class a lot (this is the second week he hasn't shown up). I might actually like him more because of that...
So when I'm not in classes or practicing I've been spending a lot of time at the coffee shop hanging out and reading. I recently read "The Misanthrope" by Moliere, which is a really good play if you ever get the chance to read it. Its about 18th century French society, but its all in verse and rhyming, so its curious as plays go. I've been working through Dante's Divine Comedy as well, and also I read from my philosophy textbook, which is difficult, but challenging and rewarding.
And so ends my long, long summary. I hope everyone feels just about as lovely as I do at the moment. Addio, addio a tutto. (No idea if the grammar is right).
