RESULTS: CHALLENGE 29 - NATIONALS
Another experimental challenge. This one definitely had it's high and low points. Below the cut is a list of all the winners for all the challenges.
I'm sure I've made some mistakes somewhere as there are a tonne of things to calculate for this challenge. Please let me know if I missed you.

A very drunk April Rhodes looked down at her adoring public. “How nice of y’all to come and see me.” She drawled. “ I love my fans! So I’mma gonna slow this down now and sing my old favorite from way back when.” She adjusted her guitar and began to sing a touching version of “Mmmbop.”
Shannon Beiste looked up at the tiny blonde in horror. “Does she know she’s on top of a table in Sheets ‘N’ Things?”
Howard Bamboo shrugged. “She’s here every Tuesday.”
“Some people” Sandy huffed, “Have no appreciation for true talent. Plebeians.”
2nd - haruechan
“And here is uncle Kurt, senior class president.” Rachel said, pointing at the picture on The Thunderclap.
“Where’s uncle Blaine, mom?” Amelia Hudson asked, leaning over the book to peer closely at all the photos. Rachel flipped a few pages before stopping and pointing at their glee club picture.
“Here. The one with the blue bowtie.”
Amelia frowned at the picture. “I like him best now, with the curly hair.”
Carole laughed, coming out of the kitchen. “Your mom liked the short hair at the time. She even kissed him.”
Amelia made a face. “Ew, grandma. Mom and uncle Blaine?” Her reply mixed with Rachel’s outrageous “Carole! It was only once!”
“Twice. Remember Lima Bean?” Kurt supplied joining them on the living room, grinning. “But I’m sure she liked kissing Finn more. Did I ever tell you the story of our National competition in New York, Amelia?”
3rd - ltlredhairdgirl
Carole sighed as she put down the mass of shopping bags in her bedroom. After what turned into a long day of quality time with her step-son, she was exhausted. She sat down on the bed and thought about the time they spent together that day at The Lima Bean. Kurt had wanted coffee so they had made a stop at the coffee shop before heading home with their purchases. They sat down, and after a few moments Kurt began to speak.
“Carole, when did you know my dad was “The One”?” Kurt asked, looking over at the man playing guitar in the corner of the café.
She was taken by surprise.
“It may sound silly,” she responded slowly, “But the moment his hand first grabbed mine. There was just an instant connection.”
“Really?” Kurt asked thoughtfully. “That soon?”
“Absolutely.” She smiled at him. “Why do you ask, sweetie?”
“Oh, no reason…” Kurt replied with a small smile, sipping his coffee.
Carole smiled, remembering the look on her step-son’s face. She knew that look. Whether or not Burt wanted to admit it, his little boy was growing up, and he was absolutely smitten. She hoped this boy, whoever he was, would be good to Kurt. Because if he wasn’t, he was going to be very sorry he ever messed with Carole Hudson or anyone she loved.

“Finn, we need to talk.”
We need to talk. Four words no teenager ever wants to hear.
Finn frowns, “Are you and Burt gonna have a baby or something?”
“No, honey, we’re not.”
“Good.”
She raises her eyebrow at him and looks sort of mad but lets it go. “I actually wanted to talk about you and Rachel. I know that you two have been going out a while and that things are probably getting serious.”
Oh, God, no.
“After all the confusion with Quinn, the hot tub, and the baby last year, I thought we needed to have a discussion…”
It’s happening. His mom is having the sex talk with him. In the middle of The Lima Bean. He doesn’t even really like coffee, he’d much rather drink a slushie instead.
“Ma…”
“No, listen. Your dad…Burt and I, we love you. We want you both to be safe.”
And his mom really did just casually slip a box of condoms across the table to him. Awkward, super awkward.
“You can always come to either one of us if you have any questions about anything.”
“I know, mom.”
“Good,” Carole smiles, “this was good. Thanks for hearing me out and not sticking your fingers in your ears.”
“Huh?”
“Nevermind, honey.”
5th - queer_theory
Carole entered The Lima Bean carrying a guitar case at her side. She'd found it in Kurt's room, and the fact that he didn't play guitar combined with the photos of him that lined the inside of the case revealed that it probably belonged to Blaine. She looked to the right and saw Blaine sitting alone at his usual table. He'd be waiting for Kurt now, giving her just enough time to return it. She walked with purpose, setting the guitar next to him and offering a smile. "Hi! I didn't know you came here," Blaine said. Carole couldn't help thinking that he was such a charming boy. "Where did you get this?" he asked.
"You left it in Kurt's room," Carole replied. "I thought I should return it before Burt sees it." Blaine turned red and Carole laughed. "It's okay. Just try not to leave things behind if you're going to be having another secret rendezvous." She noticed Kurt approaching the coffee shop and took her leave, winking at Blaine as she went. She liked that boy.
6th - hipokras
It's an old Thunderclap, and the glossy pages are a little faded, coffee-stained. Many biros have traced doodles, insults, and hearts over the photos, defacing and complimenting. She recognises her own handwriting over many of them, and wonders if they can see her now.
She's done it all: being in love, being homeless, a brief stint with AA, (three weeks she'll never get back again,) being someone's shameful secret, and having the best friend anyone could ask for. She's opening CrossRhodes anyway, without him, said friend and star performer, because this is her right and no one else's to be a star. (Everyone else's had their second chance: Will and Bryan under the stagelights, takes her back the years.)
The cute cashier at the Lima Bean looks up and grins at her when she goes to order another coffee. The yearbook is tucked into the crook of her arm, folded open to her page. MOST LIKELY TO SUCCEED.
