Scarvesnhats Recs
D'oh! Need to go to bed, but I wanted to rec a couple fics from scarvesnhats. There's a lot of good stuff going on over there, including what looks like a very promising series from rosemaryandrue. But these are my three favorites so far:
The Scurvy, As Was Prophesized by sheafrotherdon
Rating: PG
Summary: It's October 1, 1996, and Sirius has Ideas (tm)
My Comments: This has all the things that make a sheafrotherdon story wonderful, including a bouncy, brilliant Sirius; a patient, bemused Moony; and allusions to Incidents Which Shall Not Be Named. But it takes place during OOTP, so underneath the delightful fluff is an undercurrent of wistfulness. This fic gave me a smile and an ache in the chest all at once.
October First: Homecoming by topaz_eyes
Rating: R
Summary: Two different versions of a homecoming. Who's to say which one really happened?
My Comments: I've mentioned how much I love Lie Low at Lupin's stories, despite the cliches that the era seems to inspire (tea, Lupin's little country cottage, heart-to-heart talks...). However, this fic pokes gentle fun at all those cliches and offers a glimpse of how it all could have happened. Fun read.
Our Empty Spaces by molly_commas
Rating: PG
Summary: "it's the season of grace coming out of the void/where a man is saved by a voice in the distance"
My Comments: Just a brief little AU that deals with what might have happened after Sirius fell behind the Veil. Sad and lovely.
