You guys. Sometime between my last post and staying up till 2:30 in the morning to inhale about 50 pages of fic over at the kink meme, I changed my mind about not wanting to see the new Star Trek movie.
Hee! No offense to the Kirk/McCoy shippers on my flist; I've enjoyed their fic when I catch snippets of it in passing. :) Just, I'm sort of amazed that every single person on my flist who is writing ST fic, is writing that pairing. It was the Kirk/Spock in the film that did it for me -- and I'm not even an old-skool Trekkie!
Haha, yes, I guess you could somehow take that fight scene and run with it in fic!
I haven't read much Spock/Kirk, to be honest; my fave is probably the one of hollycomb's I recced the other day: Best Birthday Ever -- very funny and sweet. But there is a metric ton of it over in the kink meme bookmarks, if you haven't browsed around there. I can't believe how ingenious some of those prompts are!
A few rec lists that I believe have some Kirk/Spock: here, here, and here.
Ooooh, these look great. I think I'll start with hollycomb. I've been so please to see great HP fandom writers in ST Reboot. It's a neat thing to have a new fandom with familiar faces. I think the Azkatrek meetup is going to be v. interesting.
I just thought, after the fight scene, that there was potential. I agree on not being able to get a handle on Sulu's personality exactly, but I imagine hidden depths :D
Just happened to come across this Kirk/Sulu vid. I haven't watched it yet -- not in a place where I can at the moment -- but thought you might be interested. Let me know if it's good!
me ships Kirk/Bones, too, but doesn't mind threesomes...
*nod nod*
And I've gotta say, after seeing the movie I'm a little surprised at the preponderance of Kirk/Bones, because I just did not see it (despite looking for it very hard! *g*).
Please come back shipping Kirk/Spock like me, though, instead of Kirk/McCoy like the rest of my flist. :(
Enjoy!

I think I actually *liked* the ship of Spock and Uhura.
Then I started reading the fanfic and, well, that pulled me over to Kirk/Bones pretty durn quick.
But the reboot is yet young!

I don't mind Spock/Uhura at all -- just thought it could've used a teeny bit more setup. :-P

Yeah. Spock/Uhura was a bit thin on setup. V. true. Also the jealousy angle was good, but...
Do you have any fave Spock/Kirk recs? Maybe I'll try to read some :D

You know, that's exactly what fanfic is for -- finding those hidden depths. *nod nod*

Even the previously shallow can suddenly sprout hidden depths. It's the most AMAZING thing :D

I also have been a Karl Urban fan since he made The Price of Milk and I think Chris Pine is disgustingly beautiful in the most cocky way possible. :D

But Karl Urban... Eomer in LOTR and Russian villain Kyril in the second Bourne film. HOT boy.
Chris Pine I did not know before this and goodness me. He was perfect.

Yes, exactly. I started reading fic before I even knew what the new Bones looked like, and I gotta say, he was hotter in my head. :-P
Huh, which one was Eomer again? Haven't seen LOTR in ages. *looks him up* Oh. OHHHH. Yes, hello. Now there's some hair. *purrs*
