because I've never done Will/Djaq before its more of a drabble than a fic :)
He asks her once, about the others, if there were any others. She strokes his cheek smiling. She tells him things are so different in her country that she had rarely spoken to a man let alone touched one, kissed one. He nods, not saying anything. She doesn’t know if he truly believes her.
Neither notice that they touch each other too often. Not until Marian mentions it one day. She promises not to breathe a word.
The first time he works up the nerve to kiss her she laughs at his shyness. His lips a shadow of a touch forces her to grab his neck and crush him to her.
He blushes for an hour. A whole week passes before he has the courage to try it again. They try not to make a habit of it.
She doesn’t think of the future, of the impossibility of it all. She just thinks of now of Will’s arms and his eyelashes on her cheeks.
He loves her. He knows it. He thinks she does but they don’t speak of it. Not until the end.
The end, it turns out, is not the end.
It’s refreshing being able to start again. In the months it takes them to get to where they need to go, their relationship changes. By the time they reach foreign shores he knows he’ll never be able to live without her.
She’s the only one who could make him stay.
