The Purple Lotus was empty. Daphne sighed with an expected boredom, leaving back against the counter and surveying her store. It wasn't often she got to appreciate her hard work during the day without customers walking around. For some reason, today was a slow day and Daphne certainly didn't mind, happy to be able to get work done without stopping to assist and welcome customers. She had put task off all day yesterday, and without customers as an excuse, she had to do it. Taking a deep, steady breath, she walked to the back of the store, through the beaded curtain and sat down at her table.
She didn't know where to start, what divination method to use. "Is there anything you could tell about the leader of the Hunters, through Divination?" is the question that Harry asked, a request that he tried to take back. But she wouldn't let him. If she could do anything to help him, to try to keep him safe, she would. In such a short time, Daphne could already feel the man meaning more and more to her each day. There was something real about him that she hadn't seen in anyone else. Whatever the quality was that he possessed, it drew her toward him.
Closing her eyes, Daphne sighed again heavily. She knew what her task was, knew what she wanted to find out, but it was hard to decide what method of divination to use to answer her. Deciding to try the crystal ball first, she raised her hands and let them drift over the surface, looking in the clear crystal for a picture to form. It wasn't easy. Her mind kept drifting to Harry's lack of safety rather than the person in question: the leader of the Hunters, the mysterious wizard who committed his crimes in secret.
She was almost about to give up her attempt at gastromancy when the fog inside the crystal began to shift, revealing a scene before her eyes. Pulling aside all other thoughts in her head, she focused all her thoughts on her divination.
The picture sharpened, and a figure came into the center. The figure was clearly a man with broad shoulders even with the hood of his clock pulled up. Daphne couldn't see his face as he moved in the shadows, decking around corners and trees to shield himself. Daphne noted the intelligence it took hide so well. The setting seemed to be a park, but there was no way for her to be sure with the little scene.
As suddenly as it had appeared, it vanished, clouding over. Closing her eyes, Daphne took a deep breath, letting her pulse slow down from her work. It had taken more energy than normal to conjure the image in the globe and she felt weak. There wasn't much to go on from the scene, but she could tell Harry the leader of the Hunters is definitely a man. A man who was intelligent. Standing up on her shaking legs, Daphne walked to the cupboard in the far back where she kept herPensieve.
Withdrawing her wand, she placed it to her forehead, taking out the memory of the image in the crystal ball to share with Harry next time she saw him. It wasn't indispensable information for him to have, but at least he would know she had tried her best. Thinking she might be able to con him into a Tarot reading next time she saw him, she placed her Pensieve back in the cupboard and shut it gently. If he did agree to a Tarot reading then she might be able to get more information on the wizard in the image or perhaps tell Harry if he would ever catch the mysterious wizard.
The bell to the front door of Purple Lotus chimed and Daphne went out to welcome the customer.
