Sock Week

Great idea for a theme! Socks are my favourite thing to knit! :) A timeline of socks, going backwards.

Nature Spun in white. I hated the yarn, and they're all pilly and crappy now even though I've only worn them as slippers for a week-ish, but after dying the socks with Kool-Aid after they were knit, I liked them a smidge better. At least now I know not to use this yarn. I used this pattern, which is the first sock pattern I ever made. I highly recommend it to sock noobs; the pattern is super-easy to follow and everything is totally spelled out for you.

The Socks of Doom I sent off to my target in Sock Wars out of Cascade 220. SO MUCH LOVE for this yarn. ♥ I want to make bunches of socks out of this stuff, but that will have to wait til after Christmas knitting.

I knit these for my Mom for her birthday this past May out of some yarn I don't remember and a free pattern on the internet that I can't find now. >.< It was a really easy pattern, only a four-row repeat that I memorized pretty fast, but it still looks impressive (to me). I'd like to do this pattern again.

These were made for my mother-in-law for Mother's Day out of Clekheaton Country 8-Ply Naturals. This yarn is just... pleasant to work with. I can't describe it better than that. I love it so much. Same KnitWit pattern as the first.

Socks I made my mom for Mother's Day with yarn she brought back from Ireland the previous fall. I can't remember the name of it, but I can't get it here in the US anyway. Same KnitWit pattern.

And here are my first socks ever! Same Clekheaton yarn as above. Same KnitWit pattern. After four pair, eight whole socks, in that pattern, I've about got it memorized! I actually just wore holes in the balls of the feet of these a couple weeks ago. :( I wore them like mad, though, mostly for slipper-socks around the house. Now I myself am completely sockless, or at least hand-knit-sockless. I need to make more. MORE SOCKS!

So that's my sock history. I've really enjoyed seeing pictures and hearing stories about other people and their sock knitting. I can't wait to try more patterns and techniques! I actually just started a toe-up sock using Magic Loop, which I love, but it's teeeeeny tiny sock yarn on size 1 needles, so I know this will be a WIP for a long time. I'll need to make at least a pair or two out of worsted/DK while I wait. ;) Hey, I need new slipper-socks!
