here's your future
I have a house in california!! i'm so excited. i'll be getting my road trip on and moving out in july. i think that is the plan. although, my parents are being weird about me driving cross-country. my mother's reasoning was a lot of people have been getting murdered. and here i was more concerned about driving through the massive flooding in the midwest. so they have requested that i find someone else to go with me. apparently my sister doesn't count. lame.
so this has been new music week for me. i felt kind of behind, so i made an effort to find some new stuff. i'm really enjoying the new shearwater album (rook), and as is my tendency these days, i have already picked a song to obsess over. lost boys. check it out. but the rest of the album is good too. kind of weird, but it's will sheff from okkervil river so obvs it's a little abstract.
also got ahold of fleet foxes, lykke li, spiritualized and the new sigur ros. oh and the crystal antlers ep is face-meltingly good. i rank them up there with no age and les savy fav as the kind of lo-fi noise band i can get behind. and of course they are from california. all the prog rockers are on the west coast it seems.
cmg seems to think sparks' new album is fantastic, but i have to admit the jury is still out for me. i think it's an entertaining and obviously very clever album, but i dunno. it's a super weird amalgamation of glam rock and synth pop. oh man, and the first song, good morning, sounds a heck of a lot like an abba song. so weird. but it's fun, i'll give it that.
i guess that's it for the new music this week, other than the apparat remixes and older cut copy record i found. i'm afraid i'm missing out on things now that i'm not working at a radio station. sigh.
bsg tonight made my brain hurt. i just kept thinking what?? the whole time. what's going to happen now ron moore? i hate you for making me wait until 2009.
