Art Work (2006 - Present)

May 16, 2009 15:52

I had no formal art training or experience prior to taking art in junior college. Due to budget constraints in my college (I was part of the first batch of art students), I was unable to focus purely on photography, and had to take up pencil and paint work as well.
I spent 1.5 years living, sleeping and smelling art, fervently practicing on a daily basis, in order to bring my drawing skills on par with the rest of my class, something which I'm pretty proud of.

A'level Coursework
My A'level Art&Design coursework captures the conflict within a woman as she comes to a turning point in her life - marriage. In my 'photo-essay', I attempt to address the unwanted burdens of marriage and parenthood, lightly touching upon the Peter Pan syndrome, and portraying the subject as yearning to revert to carefree childhood. Literary quotes throughout represent the musings of a matured mind, reconciling the dull images of a wedded woman with the colourful memories of a youthful soul.
