sunburns and sauerkraut
Yesterday I went to my very first tractor pull. That's right.
For those of you that are unfamiliar with the concept, this is what happens:
There are several different weight classes of tractor, just like in wrestling...
and you hook up your tractor to this huge sled with a moving weight on it. As you pull this sled thingy down the 300 foot track, the weight mooves towards you and puts more pressure on your end. So, you try to go as many of the 300 feet as possible before you either lose power, or lose traction.
It doesn't sounds like fun, but holy God, was it ever! And I'm not even being sarcastic. We sat out in this beautiful weather that we're having, for something like four hours, drank beer, and watched these tractors. There are even some super tractors that I swear are for racing...if you would do such a thing...that pour lots of smoke and are very loud. It was all around a great time.
I did get severely sunburned though. I have the racoon eyes. For shame.
Tongiht we're getting pizza from the Traer Pizza Palace. It's good sutff cause of the kraut. I know it sounds not good, but I swear it's the best thing ever!
Shannon is out playing with his new-to-him truck, and I'm trying not to move too much cause of the burning...but life is content right now. I'll tell you that much...
and next weekend? The Iowa State Fair! They have a cow made out of butter! How can I NOT see something like that?
