I wasn't looking for a successful party in a sense, I wanted a cool scene. I wanted people to blend and mix and crash into each other creating something exciting. But unfortunately the uncooth segment of the population is very polarizing and easily scares away cool/desirable elements.

You're right about the many-headed hydra. Mona brings in creeps. She has no filter for anyone thusly her yahoo group is infested with chasers, closet cases and fetish freaks for example. And I hated her idea for the closet/changing room. That stupid closet only encouraged that undesirable segment to come out. That stupid closet encouraged theft. That stupid closet is so stupid because it's not even a metaphor anymore, it's really a stupid closet! But Mona is a little messed up in the head and we don't see things eye-to-eye. I was always trying to wrestle the old party away from that segment and clung to Sabrina. It was a "mixed party" back then. This thing was just another Ina's on a Thursday night and April does not go to Ina's nor does she want to be Ina or Caroline or Allanah.
