In flames of death's eternal reign we ride towards the fight

Ok kids, lemme say a couple things. First of all, it makes me happy to see we're growing in numbers here. Honestly for a little while when I first started this thing I wondered if this would become my little musical fortress of solitude. But now we're growing in numbers a bit and it makes me happy in special ways. Much grass to
najacheese for pimping this community on her lj not once, but twice. So yeah, I'm glad I'm not the only one who needs a little space on the internet to rant about random musical thoughts.
Now that we've given big ups to them what's brought others to our happy little band here and given our welcome to any and all newcomers, it's time for my album of the day. Today's album comes way out of left field. I saw it on a listening post at Zia's (official motto: "Now with worse customer service than ever!") and I kinda laughed to think someone went and gave their band such a rediculous name. But yeah, this one may be an instance of you heard it here first, and I hope it is, but yeah this one is gonna be awesome. My album for today is "Inhuman Rampage" by Dragonforce. Yeah, Dragonforce. It sounds like some sort of oldschool NES game or something.
So here's the skinny: Dragonforce is a six-piece speed metal band from England. I don't know about you, but I stopped looking for new (or is that Nu?) speed metal bands years ago. Nu metal is so rediculously crappy when compared to Judas Priest or Iron Maiden, and in most cases even Saxon. But Dragonforce brings the goods. They sound like Judas Priest if only Judas Prest weren't so slow. Seriously, when I say Dragonforce is speed metal I mean they are the fastest thing I have probably ever heard. But aside from being fast they are incredibly melodic, which is something the likes of Dream Theater can't seem to nail down. Dragonforce's songs have melodies and everything. Seriously, their lead singer has a very nice voice and it almost makes you forget that underneath the vocals and tight harmonies, the instruments are moving at about a billion kilometers per hour. Now I know what you're thinking. If you aren't the type of person who listens to metal, or if you aren't looking for a new favorite British speed metal band, you might not want to give dragonforce a chance. But seriously, it might surprise you. You might find yourself, as I did, enjoying the filth out of a band from a genre you had given up on years ago. They are currently on tour with Ozzfest, but for my homies here in Arizona, they'll be playing the Marquee in early October. Their website is here, where you can read up on who the filth they are as well as hear songs from their latest album. I'm not joking about this one. Dragonforce is one of the coolest things I've heard this year. Check 'em out.
