Hello! Well, tomorrow afternoon my wisdom teeth will be removed. I'm slightly anxious about the pain I'm going to experience, but I'm looking forward to my first meeting with anesthesia. : D I've always wondered what it's like to "go under."
I received two job applications in the mail this week and am sending both of them out tomorrow. The six that I've already mailed back haven't procured any results, but I wasn't expecting to hear back from the government very quickly. : P I'm planning on waiting to hear from a state government department for another four to six weeks, and if I don't, then I'm just going to pursue a different job. I hate being without work or schoolwork for such a long period of time, but I suppose it is giving me an opportunity to write and think, as well as have my wisdom teeth taken out.
I finished a video game called "Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo Tales" for Nintendo DS last weekend. It was a very cute and entertaining game, although a little short. You start the game as a chocobo (whom you get to name!) living in a town with your friends Shirma, Croma, and many other chocobos. One day, Croma returns from shopping with a picture book he bought from a mysterious peddler. This ominious picture book actually turns out to be an object that was sealing the Dark Lord Bebuzzu. Croma accidentally unseals him and Bebuzzu then starts working on taking over the world. You must save the world by unlocking the power of other picture books (all of which have a mini-game and Final Fantasy fairy tale inside) and winning card battles! The fairy tales were classic stories adapted to the Final Fantasy world, which I thought was a really fun and compelling idea. Most of the dialogue was predictable, but full of horrible puns! : D
I'm currently playing "Xenosaga: Episode III - Also Sprach Zarathustra" and have been spending most of my time on it since I started it a few days ago. I don't think I've ever been involved in a video game's story this much. It's so epic, complex, and realistic--not to mention contemplative. The environments, characters, and battle system are equally great, so I'm really enjoying it!
The only movie I've watched since my last entry is "The Sword of Doom." It's a tragic samurai film made in 1966 and was very interesting, authentic, and disturbing. I didn't like how the movie abruptly stopped without a full conclusion, but those sort of endings have always disappointed me, probably because I like closure.
Josh and I had our first band practice since recording "Blue Euphony" in August and it went fairly well, particularly considering that we hadn't practiced in a month. : P
Andrew and I decided to start a new side project together earlier this week called Inferior Android! We're going to use the techno songs I've already created, however Andrew is going to add ambient guitar tracks to each one and we're then going to record vocals. Andrew's friend Marie Pierre has kindly agreed to help us out and sing for us, which I think will be really fun. If any of you are interested, our MySpace URL is:
http://myspace.com/inferiorandroidmusic I started reading 'Tis (the sequel to "Angela's Ashes") by Frank McCourt last week and I really like it. I occasionally feel out of place when reading non-fiction books, perhaps because they're usually dismal, pragmatic, and far from the imaginative scope of fantasy, but I'm enjoying it anyway. I'm planning on reading "Teacher Man," the last memoir by Frank McCourt, after I finish 'Tis.
Otherwise, I've just been doing chores, driving my sister to work, going out, writing, playing tennis, playing bass, and dreaming. Thanks for reading! Ciao!
